A wolf's hold

16 2 2

A life for a life, but what's there to gain?

All I see for either side is senseless pain

As a hungry wolf holding onto it's prey I would beg you to go away

My dying body has nothing to give, no blood, no beating heart and no more love to give

And as I beg you to let go, your teeth only see to grow

Sharper by the day so I will do whatever you will say

But at night

You lick my wounds

You caress my malnourished ribs

You love me that I know

But when will a wolf learn to let go

You give me freedom but bind me with chains

You love me when lonely but never when needed

You keep me alive but barely hanging on

And I'll stay alive

You need me to live

You won't let me die

When will a wolf learn to let go?

A deathly grip with a suffocating mercy

Since when has dying made me unworthy

Not living, not dying and probably not even trying

I am only lying here paralysed by fear

Of living

Of loving

Of leaving

So rip my throat open

Let me knock in deaths door

Because life like this isn't worth it anymore

When will a wolf learn to let go?

By now I'm sure you know what they say

A life for a life, but I stand here this day

My life isn't worth it, my dear loving wolf

So please, I beg you, for nothing in return

Let me go

Take me

Break me

Make me yours

But when all is said and done

My merciless wolf, you know you have won

Break my chains, untie the chord

Let me do things of my own accord

But if you won't, which I'm sure of now,

Show me your kindest gesture

For I am but your prey, whom you chose to let live

No, I am your victim, whom you chose not to let die

When will a wolf learn to let go?
