Short Kings Anthem

Part 42

Lauren looked at her phone as it started to ring. She wasn't surprised to see it was Chris and answered it.

"Hello you," Lauren smiled. They had been husband and wife for six weeks now and for the most part nothing had changed except for Chris referring to Lauren as Mrs Dixon. She hadn't changed her social media or anything but most people personally referred to her as Mrs Dixon and she didn't mind. She did find it amusing if she double barrelled her name she would become Mrs Martin Dixon or Mrs MD for short and she liked that. Currently she was not at home however, she was filming some videos on different Christmas traditions in Europe and was currently in Germany. It was cold and wet plus she wasn't really getting the content she wanted plus she missed Chris terribly.

"Hello missus, how are you getting on?" Chris asked. He was currently sitting on the sofa with Maple snoozing by his feet, he had filmed a lot over the past couple of days Lauren had been gone but evenings were just him and Maple and he was quite lonely.

"It's a slog. We're going out again in an hour to desperately get more footage, we don't have enough good stuff and these videos have a ten day turnaround time," Lauren sighed. Mainly she needed people to speak to but so far no one was biting, she had sent out a plea on Instagram hoping someone would meet up with her in an hour and chat.

"This is why I don't have an upload schedule. The Sidemen, Arthur, George and Stephen are all killing themselves working round the clock just because ad revenue is slightly better in December." Chris didn't understand it one bit. He'd much rather release good videos all year round at a good pace rather than make videos for the sake of making videos, most Youtubers who did this didn't even make good videos, just lots of them.

"Think of it as an investment to supporting our future family." Lauren had been thinking about the practicalities a lot. She would have to take a break from making videos at some point. Both her and Chris agreed sharing their family life wasn't something either of them felt comfortable with so keeping children off camera would mean less time on camera in general, one of them would have to be with the baby, it would be a very long time before she would be able to make any travel videos again.

"How is all of that going by the way?"

"Got an appointment to take it out next week,"Lauren replied. She was feeling a little nervous about it of course, it was one thing to talk about it but quite another to actually come off birth control and try for a baby. They were going to give it nine months and if nothing happened, given Lauren's history they'd then see if any investigations were needed.

"Cool." Chris was nervous too, he was excited but also a little nervous, it was something he knew he wanted but it was still a huge thing.

"How's our current baby?" Lauren asked referring to Maple, she missed her terribly too.

"Good! She was napping but her little ears pricked up at the sound of your voice and now she's staring at the phone. Hang on," Chris then picked the dog up before putting his phone on loud speaker. "Can you hear mummy?"

"Hang on a sec I'll video call." Lauren then hung up the phone before starting a video call. She smiled at the sight of Chris holding Maple, he had obviously been filming as his hair was all over the place and he was still in a football kit.

"I miss you both," Lauren said looking at them both.

"We miss you too, looking forward to seeing you tomorrow," Chris smiled and Lauren nodded, she couldn't wait either.

Lauren was pleasantly surprised the next day when Chris was awaiting for Lauren at the airport.

"I thought you were filming!" She exclaimed after running over to him quickly and embracing him.
