Part 49

At five forty three AM on the ninth of September 2025 Robin Leonard Martin Dixon was born followed by Rhea Lillian Martin Dixon at five forty eight. The babies were on the smaller side as was expected for twins who were slightly early but they were big and healthy enough to not need any extra medical care at birth, five pounds nine and five seven.

After the ordeal was over Lauren laid on the bed Robin in one arm and Rhea in the other Chris standing next to the bed peering in awe at his new family.

"You were brilliant," Chris whispered as he softly wiped his hand over Lauren's forehead then hair.

"I couldn't have done it without you," Lauren replied looking at Chris to give him a quick smile before turning her attention back to the tiny babies in her arms. It was a shaky start as Chris didn't know quite what to do but as time went on and Lauren grew more tired Chris really stepped up and gave her all of the encouragement she needed.

"Let me know when you want a bit of a rest and I'll take them from you," Chris offered when he saw Lauren yawn. They had both been up for about twenty hours now Chris was exhausted and all he did was stand there and say words of encouragement.

"I don't want to let them go," Lauren admitted knowing she would have to put them down soon but was very reluctant to do so.

"Now you know how I've felt about you these past few years," Chris smiled and couldn't help but chuckle when he saw Lauren's face screw up.

"Please stop being so sweet I don't think my hormones can take anymore!" Lauren wailed before indicating she wanted to close her eyes and get some rest. Chris sat down in the chair next to the bed and carefully scooped up each baby in turn cooing at the twins. Lauren looked at him and would have given him another one right there and then if she wasn't so exhausted, just the sight of Chris's proud and loving face as he held his children close to his chest. Unable to fight it anymore Lauren's eyes started to close, as she started to drift off to sleep she could hear the voice of Chris taking softly to their children.

"I know I've got a bit of main character syndrome but that stops now. You two are the most important things in the world along with your mum and nothing else matters. I might joke a lot about the Arsenal Academy but honestly if you don't I won't be upset. It's my goal in life to make sure you're both happy so just tell me if I'm doing a good job okay? I'm going to try my best I'm sorry for all the times I'm going to fuck something up. I managed to bag your mum so I must be doing something right." He paused to laugh. "Family was really important to me growing up, it still is now but I learnt so much from my mum and dad, your mum's smarter than I am but I can teach you how to kick a ball and how best to get on your aunt Kelly's nerves but I just need you both to know how precious you are to me and I will always be here. Even if you end up supporting Tottenham. I love you both so much already."

Twins was no easy feat, between them Chris and Lauren were managing and they had a lot of help from Chris's mum for the first couple of weeks who mainly helped with household tasks and watched the babies while Lauren and Chris showered, ate or napped but they had been on their own for nearly a week now, the babies were a month old and while growing well obviously they were still small, still yet to reach the weight of an average newborn but they were perfect.

The time had come for the pair to take the babies into the office to meet all of their uncles, they had wanted to do it before now but they hadn't felt ready. Both were still very drained and tired but they also had a yearning to get out of the house and see people. The weather was starting to turn chilly as it was now autumn but also the twins were sizing out of smaller baby clothes and could comfortably wear newborn so they dressed them in outfits, Robin in a cream pair of trousers with feet attached and a long sleeved top with a giraffe on it with a vest underneath and Rhea, the slightly smaller of the two in a similar outfit but with grey and elephants. They took a baby wrap each, not wanting to bother too much carrying car seats to the offices Rhea was strapped to Chris's chest and Robin was snuggled to Lauren.

To their slight disappointment no one was at reception when they walked past.

"This is where no one's in," Lauren joked as the pair were in the lift.

"They all should be, they're planning that big video today, Cal said he would fill me in later on. It's why I said to you we should go today and surprise them," Chris whispered not wanting to disturb a sleeping Rhea. Lauren simply nodded a response showing she understood when the lift doors opened and the pair walked out into the corridor, seeing Harry who was walking towards them from the toilet to the meeting room.

"No way!! Let's have a look!!!" Harry almost screamed as he came bounding over.

"Shh they're sleeping," Chris scolded but Harry was too excited to pay any mind, he peered his head through to try and catch a glimpse of them, but it was hard as they were snuggled in tight.

"Let us get sorted and we can get them out and introduce them properly," Lauren suggested, in full mum mode as Harry nodded and excitedly rushed down the corridor to the meeting room where everyone was gathered.

"Look who's here!" Harry shouted and pointed to the door as Lauren and Chris walked in, waving to all of their friends. The room lit up with excitement as everyone started talking, some standing up.

"Okay, okay calm down.They're asleep right now but we just wanted to say hello." Chris addressed the room as Lauren sat down and carefully removed the wrap holding Robin close to her as she did so.

"Mate he is so lovely," Ethan gushed as Lauren simply smiled, as great as it was to see everyone again she was actually feeling a little bit overwhelmed.

"Here comes the little princess!" Cal shouted excitedly as Chris slowly took her out, everyone gasped at the little ones.

"They're so small!" Josh observed flicking his eyes between the two curled up babies.

"Definitely take after their dad then. They're gorgeous though," Theo added.

"Anyone wanna hold? This one is bigger but not by much," Lauren looked around the room and saw a few hands up, to her surprise however Harry walked straight over and held out his hands.

"I'm still a bit pissed Chris is the one to have the first boy in the group, but let me hold him," Harry uttered. Lauren very carefully gave the blonde man her precious baby and he cradled him carefully, gasping at how much smaller he looked in his arms.

"Hey there friend, you better start walking and kicking a ball soon or your father will put you up for adoption," Harry joked.

"No I won't, anyway she might end up being the football master anyway, let's not discriminate." Lauren couldn't help but smile at Chris sticking up for their daughter as he passed the small baby into Ethan's arms.

One by one those who wanted to had a hold of the baby's in turn. Arthur had Robin when Chris went to put Rhea in his arms also.

"I can't do two!!" Arthur protested in panic as Chris placed his daughter carefully in Arthur's arms laughing.

"Why not? We do it all the time," Chris argued. Arthur just sat there deadly still afraid to move and accidentally hurt the small humans in his arms.

"Want me to take Robin?" Lauren asked after snapping a quick photo smirking behind her phone, it was obvious Arthur was uncomfortable.

"I've got it," Harry surprised everyone again by scooping up both babies and holding them both in his arms.

"You're obsessed," Simon said amused.

"Do you want to babysit tonight?" Lauren asked joking, but was hopeful, anything for a nights sleep.

"No. I just think they're cool. I can't decide who they look more like." Harry looked inbetween the babies and back up at Lauren and Chris.

"They're definitely a good mix of both of us," Lauren said reflected on how much they had already changed these past few weeks.

"My eye colour, your eye shape. My nose on Rhea yours on Rowan, your cheeks, my chin jaw line and luckily your ears." Chris chuckled a little.

"Well they are both adorable," said Reev, and the whole room nodded in agreement.
