Part 33

A/N. Brooding Chris is my favourite, look at that face!! 

Things were sorted very quickly. It was not even three weeks later and all of Chris's and Lauren's immediate families were going to be gathering at their house. As it was a nice day they were doing a barbeque, Lauren had spent most of the previous evening making marinades for chicken and ribs plus a cheesecake and now with less than twenty minutes to go until Chris's family were due to arrive she was preparing sides including salads and macaroni cheese, there were also plans for an Eton Mess to be made later on.

"I know you give me shit for trying to impress your nephews but why are you trying to impress? My family already love you more than they love me." Chris commented as he opened the fridge, being relegated to drinks duty for the afternoon.

"I am Monica from friends, I am the hostess," Lauren snapped back as she sliced some cucumber.

"That you are," Chris replied, standing behind Lauren and placing his arms around her waist. He waited for her to put the knife down before placing some soft kisses down her jaw and then neck. The split second Lauren turned around to face him and kiss him back the doorbell rang out.

"I've lost track of the number of times my family have cock blocked me," Chris groaned, Lauren giggled.

"Answer the door, I'll finish this off,"

"And then you'll finish me off?" Chris asked hopefully Lauren gave him a playful pat on the arm.

"Go!!" She demanded and turned her attention back to the food.

"Hello! Hello come in," Chris said when he opened the front door, not as enthusiastic as he could have been as his family had interrupted him.

"Good to see you, the place looks great!" Kelly gushed looking around the hallway. It was the first time she had seen the house despite Chris living in it for more than six months now.

"Thanks, I'll give you the grand tour in a bit, I don't think one of Lauren's nephews has seen it either. Come in through to the garden." Chris stepped aside.

"Speaking of your lovely fiance where is she?" His mum asked walking through the entrance, Chris sighed as the first thing she did was ask about Lauren instead of asking how he was.

"She's just finishing a few things in the kitchen," Chris replied as he followed his family into the garden. Lauren also stepped out holding a bowl of bread she had cut up. The BBQ was warming up ready for the food in a short time when Lauren's brother, sister and niblings would arrive.

"Hello, I take it Chris hasn't offered anyone a drink?" Lauren asked and smiled as she watched everyone shake their heads.

"I was getting to that!" Chris defended before asking his family what they wanted and he went to the kitchen to fetch them. Lauren then entered the kitchen to grab some more of the food.

"During come dine with me you're going to have to be on it!" Lauren warned in a slightly joking tone.

"Is this a little snippet of what being married to you is going to be like?" Chris asked referring to Lauren's slight bossiness. Lauren laughed, knowing she was being a little bit too much but Chris could be so easy to wind up, especially when he was nervous. The pair were interrupted once again by the doorbell and Chris froze slightly.

"Don't worry, I'll get it, you give your family their drinks," Lauren then made her way to the door. On opening it she smiled at her brother and nephews cricking her neck up to see them all.
