It took a few days for the news to sink in but the couple were starting to get used to the fact they were going to have two babies instead of one. Lauren was also still very ill but they now had the security of knowing it was just severe morning sickness and the babies were fine. It didn't make it any less taxing however, in any case it was even more annoying because there was nothing anyone could do to make it better. She was trying to take as many supplements and minerals as she could and found that taking energy gels that runners used went someway to making her feel a little more human. She was also able to stomach fruit to a certain extent also and in some way was craving it but she wasn't sure if they were true cravings or if she wanted them because she knew they were safe to eat.
As she approached week ten and through week eleven while Lauren was still occasionally ill she wasn't as bad as she had been and was now up and on the move again.
"Do you reckon this is a baby bump forming or I'm just bloated?" Lauren asked as she walked into the room holding up her t-shirt. There was a very slight protrusion from her stomach, it was only noticeable if pointed out.
"Probably a bit of both, you're petite to start off with so any change is going to show up quickly," Chris shrugged.
"I'm going to blow up like a hot air balloon aren't I?" She asked sighing as she folded her T shirt back down over her leggings. Chris frowned, Lauren had already expressed concerns about her disordered eating and thoughts coming back. She was weighed at her first midwife appointment a couple of weeks ago, she was scared she lost some due to the sickness but had actually gained a little and it was explained to her the weight was probably the placenta's at that point, meaning they were doing what they were meant to be doing.
The doorbell chimed leaving Lauren a little confused, they weren't expecting anyone. Her confusion grew as she watched her husband almost squeal with delight and do a little dance before he ran to the door.
"I'm really sorry and I hope you don't mind but I've bought something for the babies," Chris said coyly as he walked back in holding a box.
"What?" Lauren smiled, they'd previously said they would wait until the standard twelve weeks before they start buying things but knowing he was so excited that he couldn't wait sent chills down her in a good way.
"I hope the backs are okay, I thought it would be because we discussed the whole MD thing before," Chris explained, more and more Lauren was being known as Mrs MD and she had embraced it. It gave her the link to Chris while also using both her name which she had a sentinel connection to as well as Chris's, it was a win-win situation for everyone. Lauren watched with intrigue as Chris opened the box, a huge beaming smile came across his face as he lifted out two baby Arsenal football kits with MD1 and MD2 on the back.
"Okay they are adorable!" Lauren cried as she walked over to them and held them up. "They're so tiny!" She exclaimed taking them both and holding them.
"They're properly about a hundred times smaller than that in there at the moment," Chris said as he gently placed his hand on Lauren's stomach. She was still getting used to him doing that, she had caught herself doing it once or twice and it really caught her off guard as she didn't realise she was doing it, it truly was instinct. "I was thinking maybe we could use them as a bit of an announcement? I've already got a great caption that could go along with it," Chris asked. If she wasn't already pregnant Lauren would have jumped on him to make a baby there and then, he was being so incredibly sweet and supportive throughout the whole process.
"The scans in eight days can you compose yourself until then?" Lauren asked with a smile on her face. She knew he was desperate to tell his mum but they still wanted to wait until their first proper scan. They told the midwife at their first appointment they were having twins which was confirmed on their notes so they were referred to the local twin clinic.
