The original plan for the newly married couple had been to leave the wedding venue and head straight to the airport to catch their flight to Switzerland, where they would have arrived in time for a specially prepared welcome brunch courtesy of the hotel. Unfortunately, thanks to Jinyoung's little press release, the company had gone into chaos.

Investors had been blindsided by the news and started threatening to pull funds, causing the board to call for an emergency meeting. Nayeon was forced to spend the first few hours of her newly married life locked in a grueling meeting with panicky old men and women while her grandfather sat back and watched the chaos unfold with a hidden smile.

The bastard was clever, she'd give him that. But he forgot that she was just as clever.

Investors were already jumpy after the news broke of her wedding, and with her father's health condition now made public, they were worried about their precious bank accounts. Nayeon had no choice but to play one of the first cards of her game, revealing she was already in talks with a major American investor who was chomping at the bit to get into the southeast Asian market. Just like that, the chaos died down and the fragile egos of all those old board members was soothed, all thanks to vice president Im Nayeon.

Jinyoung: 0
Nayeon: 1

Nayeon should have been riding the high of her victory, but the whole fiasco had pissed her off. She'd had to endure the useless whinings of a bunch of entitled elites (mostly men) when she should have been enjoying champagne and gourmet snacks on a private jet. By the time she and Jeongyeon boarded their flight and took off, Nayeon was in one of the worst moods she'd ever experienced.

Jeongyeon had at least known not to mess with her during their 11 hour trip. Her new wife occupied herself by trying every single snack onboard before putting on her headphones and falling asleep. Nayeon wished she could do the same. Her lack of sleep the night before combined with an already long day had left her drained, but she couldn't just sit back and let her grandfather cause more problems. So she pulled out her laptop and started working on securing the potential American investor before someone like Hirai Global could get to them.

Momo and her may be best friends, but that meant little in their cutthroat business, especially with Momo's father, Hirai Hidemitsu, at the helm. The Japanese businessman was a formidable competitor, always relentless in his pursuit to be on top. He wouldn't think twice about snatching their potential investor from under her nose so she downed copious amounts of coffee instead of the champagne she'd been looking forward to enjoying and pushed through her fatigue to read through files and draft dozens of emails.
