Nayeon walked ahead of Jeongyeon into Onjium Restaurant where her mother was already waiting for them. When Minyoung saw the pair enter, she rose from the table to greet the couple.

"Hi eomma. Have you been waiting long?" Nayeon asked.

"Hello darling. No, I've only just sat down," Minyoung said as she hugged Nayeon. The matriarch's eyes lit up at the sight of her daughter in law standing awkwardly to the side. "Ah, and so my favorite daughter in law finally comes to see me." Minyoung pretended to sulk and crossed her arms. "You've been neglecting me Jeongyeon."

"I'm your only daughter in law, eomma," Jeongyeon reminded her with a smile as she stepped forward with open arms. Minyoung immediately softened and allowed Jeongyeon to hold her.

"That may be true, but you're still my favorite one."

Jeongyeon guided her mother in law into a chair and pushed it in for her then did the same for her wife. A waiter immediately came to take their drink orders then rushed off to prepare them.

"I'm sorry I haven't been able to come see you lately eomma," Jeongyeon said. "I've been busy at my family's company. Seungyeon unnie has asked me to head up a new project."

"That's alright dear. I understand how busy you and Nayeon both are. I just hope that you're taking care of each other and not overdoing it," Minyoung said.

Nayeon saw Jeongyeon fidget nervously out of the corner of her eye. No doubt her wife was recalling last night's incident as well as her behavior over the last few days. She slipped her hand effortlessly around Jeongyeon's arm. "We were able to spend some time together last night finally," she said, making her wife nearly choke on the water she had just swallowed. "Things should be much calmer for me now that the contract with TOK Investments has been finalized." She grabbed her napkin and dabbed at Jeongyeon's chin. "Be careful sweetheart."

"Sorry," Jeongyeon apologized with rosy cheeks.

"I'm glad to hear that. I saw your picture with that man from the charity event. Why didn't you bring Jeongyeon instead?" It was obvious Minyoung didn't approve. Nayeon felt Jeongyeon perk up to hear her explanation.

"Grandfather asked me to escort him since I'm responsible for the contract. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't have even gone in the first place," Nayeon explained. "I'd have spent the night at home with Jeongyeon instead."

"Your grandfather is too demanding of you. He shouldn't put you in such a position when you're a married woman," Minyoung said with a frown. "I need to talk some sense into that old man."

"Eomma, don't waste your time. You know how he is."

The waiter came back with their drinks and Minyoung ordered for the table as well. They enjoyed a meal of steamed crab and stew, along with pine mushroom dumplings, braised beef, and red bean paste pudding for dessert. Minyoung took great delight in watching Jeongyeon try every dish, praising her for eating well.
