Park Jihyo was not having a good day. It seemed the universe had conspired against her to make sure that things didn't go her way. She should've known when she somehow missed her alarm this morning, which had never happened in her life, that the day would bring nothing but trouble. The missed alarm put her back twenty minutes, which meant she had to skip breakfast. No big deal, she could get something once she got to work; however, those plans went out the window when President Park Jinyoung called for a surprise meeting for the higher ups. She and Nayeon spent most of their morning locked in a conference room sitting through presentations and useless conversations that had nothing to do with any of their department's projects.
It was understandable that both women were not in the best mood when they finally returned to their respective offices. Jihyo was now preparing herself for the fallout of what she was about to show her boss. It would surely mean more work for her, but that's the price she had to pay. She knew that when she had accepted this job it would require hard work. Jihyo pointedly ignored the notification icon informing her that a text from a certain Japanese woman whom she wasn't happy with was waiting to be read and instead grabbed her tablet and made her way into Nayeon's office.
"Miss Im, you need to see this," Jihyo informed her as soon as she walked in, passing over her trusted tablet to her boss. Nayeon glanced at the screen and felt her anger rising as she began to read the article.
Elite's Fake Marriage?
"Rumors are swirling in the business world about Park-Im Group's vice president Im Nayeon after her recent marriage to Yoo Jeongyeon, youngest daughter of Yoo Industries. Many were shocked by the surprise engagement of the two women and subsequent wedding, leading some to speculate there's more to this than a simple whirlwind romance. Sources close to the couple have expressed their concerns that this marriage is nothing more than a publicity stunt aimed to boost sales for both companies as well as–""Who the hell wrote this? I want names!" Nayeon demanded. "Tell them to remove this immediately or we'll sue for slander as well as compensation for any income losses we incur."
"I've already tracked down the author, Min Sojang. She regularly collaborates with Sway. I'm sending her details to the legal team as we speak," Jihyo said as she took back the tablet from Nayeon.
"Of course that trash at Sway is at it again." Nayeon ran a hand through her hair roughly. "Tell Junho I need to meet with him now. I don't care what he's doing."
"Yes Miss Im. I'll inform him immediately," Jihyo said. She exited the office quickly. The secretary sighed and rubbed her temples. "Yeji?" she called to the young intern. "I'm sorry to ask, but can you run to the cafeteria and grab me one of those sandwich packs?"
"Sure Miss Park." The young woman made her way to Jihyo's desk and took the credit card that the secretary held out to her. "Is there anything else you need while I'm down there?"
