You stopped sweeping when you heard the phone ring answering to hear Owen on the other end "Hey something happened and Bret's not doing well he's gonna need you when he gets home" your heart drops wondering what the hell had happened to him. A couple of hours later you are startled awake from dozing off by loud footsteps turning when you see bret sit down full of frustration, tears, and anger as you slowly crouch in front of him caressing his face with your thumb "What happened?" he leans back as you stand up wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you in his arms running your fingers through his hair after wrapping your arms around his shoulders listening as he tells you what happened during his match against Shawn Michaels "He came out and said ring the damn bell...fourteen fucking years of my life I gave to that man" your heart ached knowing you couldn't change what happened or really help him but you knew you could support him despite the incident. While bret was meeting up with owen and their brother in law Jim you call vince royally pissed off for what he did to bret "YOU COULD HAVE LET HIM DO HIS SPEECH AND GIVE THE BELT TO SHAWN IN A PEACEFUL WAY BUT YOU JUST HAD TO DO SOME BULLSHIT FOR YOUR OWN ENTERTAINMENT" you had gotten caught up in your yelling at vince that you didn't hear bret walk in who stands in the living room watching you on the phone in the kitchen walking up to you as you slam the phone back on the receiver "I don't think I've seen you that mad" you turn your head seeing bret lean against the doorway with a small smile as you cool off before the two of you held each other in a tight hug before having dinner and falling asleep coming home that afternoon after work and running errands to nothing but quietness in the house looking around until you went to his office down the hall from your shared bedroom grabbing his pen and signing his contract for WCW letting out a huge breath of relief before standing and holding you tightly spending the next while hugging swaying slightly before watching tv on the couch.
