Chapter 56

Scarlett's POV:

Today is mother's day and I have been woken up by someone making loud noises. 

I sit up in bed and turn my head to a sleepy Colin. Seriously this man can sleep through anything. I groan and get out of bed.

I go to Maddie's room first and see her bed empty, which isn't unusual for her because she likes to go on morning runs but when I find rose's bed empty I begin to worry. Where the hell are my children? And who is making loud noises.

My worrying stops when I hear laughing and voices from downstairs. 

I walk into the kitchen to find Maddie stood at the stove cooking and rose sitting on the counter chatting away to her. I clear my throat to tell them that I'm there. They both turn there heads at the same time to me.

 "No you didn't see us, we're not here. Go back to bed" Maddie says walking over to me and pushing me out of the kitchen

 "Good morning to you too. And What? Why?" I ask her laughing at her attempt to get me out.

 "Because we're trying to make you breakfast in bed and it's nearly done" she then remembers something and runs back into the kitchen. 

I go back to bed so they're plan works and find Colin still fast asleep.

I lay on my phone until I hear the kids walking up the stairs. I can hear Maddie telling rose to be quiet so I close my eyes and pretend that I fell back asleep.

 "Mommy. Wakey, wakey" I open my eyes to rose sitting at my feet and Maddie next to me placing a tray on my lap. She had made 3 small pancakes and put chopped up strawberries in a small bowl. She also placed a cup of coffee beside me and Colin.

 "I did make Colin some pancakes but rose burnt them" rose shook her head.

 "No I didn't you said I wasn't aloud near the stove" Maddie sighs.

 "Okay I burnt them but in my defense I did have a dog jumping up at me wanting to try the batter, whatever you guys can share. " she says giving me a grin. speaking of the dog he is following Maddie everywhere. I smile at the two and thank them for the breakfast. 

Rose started to wake up Colin who again somehow slept through all of the noise. Good job we wasn't being robbed although to be honest he'd probably sleep through it anyway, so it wouldn't really affect him.

Maddie's kissed my cheek and wished me happy mothers day before disappearing to go and get changed.

We had planned on having a brunch at my mother's house but she's currently in Spain having the time of her life. So we've just planned a dinner later tonight with Maddie's aunts and cousins. It happens to be there last day here because they're going back home tomorrow. Which is going to be hard because I've gotten used to them being here and Maddie absolutely has adored seeing them everyday.

After eating the breakfast I get ready myself and  Rose runs to go and find Maddie. 

I walk downstairs to the kitchen expecting to find it a mess after the two making breakfast but it actually is clean and they cleaned up all of the dishes they used which is good because it means that I taught them well.

Colin wraps me in a hug and kisses my head.

 "Breakfast was lovely" I nod in agreement. for someone who says that they can't cook, Maddie sure did a good job at it. 

We hear footsteps and rose comes running into the room. 

 "Mommy, it's gift time. Hurry!" Rose pulled at my arm and took me to the living room. Maddie was sat there with two gift bags.

Rose handed me one which was from her. Inside was a handmade card which I get every year and a small box which was painted by her, inside was small drawings and pictures of Maddie and her. I picked up the drawings, one that rose had made me and another that Maddie had made me when she was little. I don't know how rose got this but I love that she added it with her drawings. I gave rose a big hug and thanked her before Maddie handed me her gift bag.

 "I couldn't really wrap them well because rose had used up nearly all of the wrapping paper" Maddie told me as I pulled a small wrapped up box, I unwrapped it and inside was a necklace that had a small heart, it opened to a picture of Maddie and rose together. It was one that I had took of the two a while ago whilst they had both fell asleep cuddled up together.

There was also a small box with a Pandora charm of a rose and a violet flower.

 "Now you have a charm that represents both of us" she says smilling at me.

Maddie's middle names are Ingrid and violet, and since rose's name is also a flower, it goes well together.

 "Its beautiful thank you baby" she gives me a smile before clearing up the wrapping paper.

I follow her into the kitchen and pull her into a hug.

 "Happy mothers day, mama" she mumbles into my chest. I kiss her head before letting her go.
