🎈CHAPTER 27🎈
°Carlita's POV°
Bill and I followed behind mike, each with our own cars. We stopped Infront of a building, getting out of the cars, following Mike inside. "The library?" I ask confused why we were there.
"Mmm-hmm."
"Wow. Didn't this place used to be bigger?" Bill asks taking a look around. "Or it could feel that way, since you use to be smaller." I point out, in a joking manner. "Y-yo! Mike, where are you going?" Bill calls after Mike, who was walking down a hallway at a very fast pace having us run after him to catch up.
Going up some stairs, we found a very shocking sight. "Mike, you live here?" Bill questions.
"Yeah. Make yourself at home." Mike says, he was basically living every nerds dream, they would love to be surrounded by books every single day. "You guys want some water?" Mike asks, opening his fridge.
"Yeah."
"Sure."
There was information everywhere, has this been bothering him all these years. Mike handed us a glass of water, taking a sip, the water kind of had a funny taste to it, but I ignored it. "You see, memory's the thing. It's the key. It's the key to everything." Mike explains.
"If it really does want us b-b-back here, don't you think the smartest thing to do is just get the hell out of Derry?" Bill asks.
"No, no, no. It does want us back. Of course it does! But it doesn't know, I know what I know." Mike states. "And what exactly do you know?" I ask, staring at him intently.
"How to kill the shit out of it!" Mike yells, surprising me a bit. "I've read every book. I've talked to every person in this godforsaken town, everybody that would talk to me, anyway, and that's not a long list, but it wasn't enough. I had to know how this all started. How it started." Mike tells us, taking ahold of the thing that was standing on the table, walking closer to us. "And it started here." He says handing it over to us.
"Whoa. What are we looking at, Mike?" Bill asks staring at the thing.
"It's an artifact. Early 18th century Shokopiwah." Mike says.
"Shoko... How'd you get it?" Bill asks. "I found it, in the... No, no, they gave it to me. I stole it." Mike states, first trying to come up with an excuse than telling the truth. "Wait. You stole it?" I asked him shocked. "From Native Americans?" Bill also asks.
"Uh... It's complicated." Is all Mike had to say.
"Yeah, it is."
"They helped me on my journey." Mike says.
"So beautiful." Bill says, staring at the artifact. "They showed me things. A vision." Mike keeps on talking.
"Ow. Holy fuck." Bill says grabbing onto his head, before I could ask what was wrong, my head started hurting, like something was pounding against my brain. "I feel kinda of funky. Hot. Am I sweating?" Bill asks, as I was also feeling like I was stuck in a oven at that very moment. "I need you guys to see what they showed me, Bill, Carli." Mike says.
It was as if my vision was shaking, it was as if Mike was moving further away from us, but i could still hear his voice. "They live outside of Derry. Beyond it's reach. They moved there many years ago."
Images of the Indians, and their home and their people flashed through my mind, I was able to see when Mike met up with them. "They are holy men, their holy of holies, they took me in. Fed me their sacred materials. I started to... To react."
I saw a meteor falling from the sky. "While I sat there, looking out over the valley, I saw it arrive, I knew that one day, I would have to make you all see." Mike's voice rang through my ears.
"Mike, did you put something in our drinks?" I heard Bill ask, Mike looking at us like he didn't actually do anything wrong. "It's, uh... It's a root." Mike says casually.
"You drugged us?" I questioned him, feeling fuzzy. "No, it's a root with properties. It's just a micro-dose of what the Shokopiwah gave me..." Mike says, Bill interrupting him. "Why would you do that?" Bill asks. "...to open my eyes."
"I don't feel real good." Bill says.
"Me neither."
"I need you two to look, and you'll see." Mike says holding the artifact up to our eyes, the picture on it started glowing red the more i stared at it.
"Open your eyes. Open your eyes."
"They showed me the past." A meteor fell from the sky hitting the ground, crashing through, deep into the earth, three lights immerging from it, creating that monster. "Showed me the way it appeared to them." It taking a giant form of a terrifying bird, killing as it pleases. It taking form of different kind of monsters over the years. "They showed me their pain." How many life's that was taken by this thing, people screaming in pain. "They showed me how to stop it!" A ritual that was performed, that could possibly end it for good.
I was breathing heavily, as if it felt like I was stuck in a very bad dream. "It's over. It's over. You're okay. You're okay. Did you guys see it? The ritual?" Mike asks, crouched down Infront of us.
"The ritual of Chud?" Bill asks.
"Yeah, I knew you... I knew you guys would see it." Mike points out, Bill grabbed his shirt pulling him closer. "I saw the whole fucking thing, Mike." Bill state will all seriousness.
"That's how we kill it." Mike says with a smile. "But, how are we gonna do it?" I ask, finally able to breathe with some normality, but my body was still in some pain. "Everybody already s-said no." Bill adds.
"But with you and Carli, they'll listen. This won't work without all of us." Mike says his voice laced with seriousness.
