🎈CHAPTER 36🎈

°Carlita's POV°

Mike didn't even hesitate to get started as he crouched down getting out that weird artifact he showed Bill and i at the library. "It can only be attacked in its true form. The ritual will show us that." Mike states, which didn't sound too good at all.

"And what is It's true form?" Ben asks, and honestly I was afraid, afraid of finding out, Richie tried to lighten the mood as he says, "I hope it's a puppy, like a Pomeranian or... I'll shut up."

"It's light." Mike says, looking up at us as he continues to speak, "A light must be snuffed out by darkness." He adds as he threw the oil into the artifact, starting a fire inside of it. "Your artifacts, place them in the fire. The past must burn with the present." He explains, as each of us took out our artifacts, everyone's seem to be simple, as mine was in a small wooden box.

"This is the boat that I built with Georgie." Bill says, throwing the paper boat into the fire, I decided to go next. "This small box has letters in them, letters I wrote to someone very dear to my heart, but i was never able to give them to him." I explained, touching the lid one last time, before putting it in the fire.

"It's my inhaler." Eddie says, taking one last pull, before letting it go.

"Come on, dude." Richie says.

"Something that I wish I had held on to." Beverly says, looking closely it looked like a postcard, which had something written on it.

"This is a page from my yearbook, that only one person signed. I probably should have forgotten it, but I couldn't, because I kept it in my wallet for 27 years." Ben says, also placing it in the fire after glancing at Beverly.

"This is a token from Capital Theater." Richie states, holding up the token for everyone to see.

"You brought an actual token?" Eddie asks.

"Yeah, man. That's what we were supposed to do, asshole." Richie tells Eddie, putting it in the fire.

"Do you have any idea how long that's gonna take to burn?" Eddie asks, folding his arms.

"Yeah, but so is your inhaler, dude, and Carlita's box." Richie states, making me role my eyes at them.

"Guys, come on."

"All the toxic fumes and the plastic and shit, so..." Richie says, trailing off, realising everyone was staring at him.

Mike holds up a rock, as he says, "Look, closely Carli. You see it?" I nod my head because I saw the blood on the rock. "That's where you hit Bowers." He adds.

"The rock fight." I mutter softly, with a smile.

"The day these bonds were forged." Mike states.

"That's not gonna burn, either." Eddie tells him, Mike only looked at him, then putting his rock in the fire.

"Oh, wait." Eddie says, taking the shower cap from his jeans pockets. "Couldn't forget about Stan, again." He says, throwing it in the fire carefully not to get burned.

"Okay. Grab hands." Mike instructs, so we did as we were told, taking each others hands. "The ritual of Chud. It's a battle of wills. The first step was our reunion. The second was the gathering of tokens. This is the final step." Mike explains, as the fire went out.

"What the..."

Something strange started happening, as light appeared above us.

"Fuck is that?" Bill asks.

"Don't look at them!" Mike yells.

"Are those the Deadlights?" Eddie asks.

"Don't look at it!" Mike yells, I didn't hesitate to close my eyes.

"Okay."

"Turn light into dark. Turn light into dark. Say it!" Mike shouts loudly.

"Say what?"

"Say it!"

And so it started as we all yelled, "Turn light into dark!" Over and over again, Mike started chanting in a native language, this all suddenly felt very strange.

"Mike, what's happening man?" Richie yells in question.

"Keep chanting!"

It felt like a big gust of wind blowing against me, as we kept on chanting, some literally almost shouting out their lungs and suddenly it felt very cold, opening my eyes, I saw Mike closing the artifact.

"Is it working? Did we do it?" Eddie asks hopefully, but the artifact started creaking, as something red started trying to get out.

"What is this? Is this part of it?" Beverly asks nervously.

"Mike, is this supposed to be happening?" Richie questions, but the red balloon kept on growing.

"What? No, no, no."

"Keep chanting!"

"What?"

"Keep chanting!"

Repeating that sentence over and over was starting to give me a headache, and seeing that it wasn't working, a feeling in the pit of my stomach told me to run far away, but I couldn't leave any of them behind.

It suddenly got bigger, throwing Mike back, and it didn't stop, it just got bigger and bigger pushing us out of the space.

"Hey! Hey!"

Bill grabbed my hand pulling me out of there, stepping quite a distance away from the gigantic red glowing balloon, which suddenly popped, because of one of the spikes. The impact had us falling back, and I couldn't hear a thing, but slowly my hearing started coming back.

"Are you all right?" Bill asks, helping me up from the ground.

"Yeah, I guess." I told him, my hearing was completely back after a few minutes, but I could feel something dark lurking close by, waiting to show itself.

"Wait, where's Mike?"

"Mike!"

"Mike!"

"I'm here!" Mike says, coming from the opposite direction we were at.

"Hey guys!" Richie calls for our attention. "Did we do it? Did we do it? Yeah? Did we do it?" Eddie asks, sounding almost out of breath. "We put the tokens in the thing. That's good, right?" Richie asks, I held onto Bill still feeling a little dizzy from the impact, that's when I saw it staring down at us, from the darkness. Beverly was the one flashing the light on it's face making everyone take a step back and scream in fear.
