🎈CHAPTER 35🎈
°Carlita's POV°
Moving from one tunnel to another, the gray water seemed to get deeper and deeper the further we went, Bill kept on looking behind him to make sure im following him, but the squeaking of rats didn't make it very comfortable, rather than seeming to be sweet of him, i was reminded why we were here in the first place.
"Oh, man. Blech. Gray water." Eddie says in disgust climbing out of the tunnel we were in, walking further we took another turn, and another, it felt like we were moving forward, but also never getting anywhere, when we finally arrived at the location where the last battle took place 27 years ago, and I've never been more afraid.
Bill must have took notice, as he takes my hand in his, as we kept moving forward, the chanting off kids voices ringing in my ears, didn't make me feel any better.
"Shit. This is it. This is where it happened." Ben mutters, Bill gently squeezed my hand, as we all were looking around and at each other, taking another step down the water ended up going up just under my breast, if I even come out of this alive, I will be taking a 6 hour long shower, but I wasn't sure that would be long enough.
We made our way towards something that looked like it was made out of wood, very old wood might I say, but it was the only thing that wasn't covered by water.
"No, no, no. No. Ugh!" Eddie says holding his arms up, afraid of touching anything that was floating in the water. Mike and Bill got on the thing first, when Bill turned around pulling me up and out of the water. Once again I got myself staring into those eyes of his, but I quickly looked away and muttered, "Thank you."
Suddenly something came up from the water right next to Beverly, it was very tall, very skinny, you could literally see it's bones, with the biggest most creepiest eyes i have ever seen. It pull Bev under water with it.
"Time to sink!"
I was ready to jump in after her, but Bill stopped me. "Carli, stay here with Eddie." He demanded staring me down.
"Bev!" Mike yells jumping into the water with Richie following.
"But..."
"No buts, just stay here, please. We'll get her." Was all he said jumping in after the rest, leaving me and Eddie out here alone.
It started feeling like they were under there for too long, making me worried, even Eddie started to seem worried about their whereabouts.
"Guys." Eddie calls, but nobody came back up. "Okay, guys. Come on. Hey guys. Guys, come on." He says, as he started crying, I crouched down next to him, placing my hand on his shoulder. "Please, come on. Carli and I don't want to walk out of here alone." Thankfully at that moment all of them came up from the water gasping for air.
"You okay?" Ben asks a crying Beverly.
"I feel like crying." Eddie says, wiping his tearful eyes. I didn't hesitate to punch Bill's shoulder for making me worry so much, but I also pulled him into a hug afterwards thankful that he was okay.
"Mike. Where do we go from here?" Richie questions the Hanlon man. On the thing we were standing there was a door, which looked like a manhole cover, which we have no idea what's behind it, but we were about to find out what lies behind it.
"In the depths is where it crept. In the beneath, to find belief. In the depths is where it crept. In the beneath, to find belief." Mike kept on repeating, and honestly it didn't make any sense whatsoever.
"Is he okay?" Ben asks.
"I think at this point that's a relative question." Richie states.
"What's on the other side?" Beverly asks.
"I don't know. No one does." Mike says, reaching down to open it up.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Bill says in protest, but Mike has already opened it.
"Mike."
Looking into it, it looked like it was going down even deeper than we already were, if we die down there nobody will ever find us that's for sure.
"Mike, don't." Bill says, to Mike who went to sit down his legs inside the hole. "All right. See you down there." Mike says, jumping in.
"Mike!"
"Wait!"
But Mike was fine holding onto the rocks against the walls, climbing down, at least we didn't have to fall down and get ourselves killed that way.
"Stay together." Bill says, climbing down next.
"Okay."
"You guys, I can't do it." Eddie says, shaking his head. "I can't. You saw what happened up there. I was gonna let you die. I just fucking froze up. If you let me go down there with you, I'm gonna get us all killed." He adds, taking a big pull from his inhaler.
"Hey, hey, hey. Give me that." Richie says, taking Eddie's inhaler from him, but Eddie was holding onto it pretty tightly trying to get another puff.
"Give me that."
"Richie."
"Let go, you little turd."
"Just let me get..."
"I got it."
"Stop." Richie says, flashing the light on Eddie's face. "Listen to me. You had a moment. Fine, but who killed a psychotic clown before he was 14?" Richie asks.
"Me." Eddie says.
"Who stabbed Bowers with a knife he pulled out of his own face?" Richie asks another question.
"Also me."
"Who married a woman 10 times his own body mass?" Richie asks.
"Me."
"Yeah. You're braver than you think." Richie tells him.
"All right. Thanks, Rich." Eddie says, Richie being the idiot he is slapped Eddie's cheek that was stabbed.
"Ow."
"Sorry."
The two came closer to where we were waiting for them, Richie getting ready to climb down next. I held the spike I was holding onto the entire time out towards Eddie. "Eds, take this, it might just come in handy, to kill monsters that is." I told him.
"Does it?" He asks me, a bit skeptical.
"Yeah, it does, you just have to believe it does." I told him.
"Thanks, Carli." Eddie says, as I got ready to climb down next. It was a very hard and uncomfortable climb down, especially when the entrances we had to climb through was getting pretty damn small.
"You guys good?" Mike's voice echoes from wherever he was ahead of us.
"Yeah."
"Can you get through that?" Bill asks Mike, where there was a very narrowed path, it looked like we would have to squeeze through it. "It's the only way. This way. It's in here." Mike says loudly already going through it.
"Through here. It's tight, but we can get through." Bill says, shining his flashlight our way, to show us presicely which way we should be going, and he was right it was tight, but I was able to get through, and just like that we finally arrived at the place we might be able to end all of it.
"This is where it hid." Mike says, from what I could tell this place didn't look save at all, and even more creepy than the sewers themselves, it was like something I've never seen before, or could have imagined of ever seeing.
"So, all this has been under Derry, like, forever?" Eddie asks.
"Not forever. Just a few million years." Mike says, which wasn't the least bit comforting, as we were making our way towards the centre of this cave full of black spikes.
