🎈CHAPTER 28🎈

°Carlita's POV°

Arriving at the Inn I was glad to see nobody has left just yet. I just didn't expect to walk in on the conversation the others were currently having. "Okay. So, what do you mean that you've seen us all die?" Eddie was questioning Beverly who was crying.

"Yeah, cause I gotta be honest. That's a fucked up thing to just drop on somebody." Richie states, no anger or a hint of a joke in his voice. "Every night since Derry, I've been having these nightmares. People in pain. People dying. People..." Beverly says getting cut off by a nervous Eddie.

"So, you have nightmares. I have nightmares. People, they have nightmares, but that doesn't mean that your visions are true." Eddie points out. "I've watched every single one of us...." Beverly says, not able to finish her sentence, at that very moment is when Mike and Bill also finally arrived.

"You've seen every single one of us what?" Bill asked taking a seat Infront of her. "At the place that Stanley wound up. That's how we end." Beverly tells him tearfully, I walked towards the woman putting a comforting hand on her  shoulder.

"Okay, how come the rest of us aren't seeing that shit? I mean, what makes her so different?" Richie asks Bill as he would have the answer. "The deadlights." I spoke up, remembering those three lights in the vision Mike showed us just earlier.

"The deadlights." Bill mutters, as he seemed to have come to realize something. Slowly the memories of Beverly floating in the air in the sewers all daze, came flooding back.

"She was the only one of us that got caught in the Deadlights that day." Bill points out, Mike stepping closer, "We were all touched by it. Changed. Deep down. Like an infection, or a virus. A virus. You understand. Slowly growing. That virus it's been growing for 27 years. This whole time, metastasizing. It just got to Stan first, because..." Mike says, Richie cutting him off as he says, "He was the weakest."

"Jesus Christ, Rich." Bill says, we all staring at Richie in disbelief. "Just saying what everyone else is thinking, man." He says in defence.

"I mean, Rich, come on. What Beverly sees, it will come to pass. It's what'll happen to all of us, eventually, unless we stop it." Mike informs the others.

"How the hell are we supposed to do that?" Eddie asks him.

"The ritual of Chud. The Shokopiwah. The first ones who fought It, they hve a saying. 'All living things must abide by the laws of the shape they inhabit'." Mike says.

"A tribal ritual? Are you fucking kidding me, man? All right, there's gotta be another way. Okay? This thing comes back, what, every 27 years? Let's just kick the can down the road and do it then." Richie suggests, Eddie was walking up and down as he spoke up. "Wait, we'll be 70 years old, asshole."

"It doesn't work that way. None of us make it another 20 years, and the way it happens..." Beverly says trailing off, making Richie take another shot of whiskey. "So, if we don't beat it this cycle, then..." Ben says, Bill finishing his sentence for him. "We die."

"Horribly." Eddie adds.

"Yeah, I don't need the horribly part." Richie tells Eddie. "I didn't say it. She said it. Not me." Eddie points out.

"All right, guys. Look. Carli and I've seen w-what he's talking about, and it's all true." Bill tells them. "It's kind of the only way we can end it." I say, looking around the room.

"If we want the ritual to work, we have to remember." Bill informs them as well. "Remember what?" Richie asks, leaning on the bar counter, all of us looking at each other.
