In Teyvat, there are seven elemental powers: Pyro (Fire), Hydro (Water), Anemo (Air), Electro (Lightning), Dendro (Trees), Cryo (Ice), and Geo (Earth).
A thousand years ago, each element was under the control of a certain Dragon. So, there were 7 Dragons, including my grandfather who had authority over the Electro element. However, one day, their authority over the elements was taken by another God. The Dragons fought back, but they couldn't win.
The Dragon king was killed during that war. The remaining dragons were either exiled or sealed by the new god.
"So, including the Dragon king and the seven other dragons, were they all defeated by one person?" I asked my father.
"No, your grandfather didn't participate in that fight, so he wasn't exiled. but his powers were sealed. Another thing is, it was an invasion from another world. The new god led an entire army with some other gods, and now Teyvat is under that new god's rule."
He pointed to an island floating in the sky. "They established a new order, They called it 'Heavenly Principles' and that floating island is 'Celestia.' Our new God's name is the 'Primordial One.'"
"Why didn't grandfather fight? Was he afraid?"
"No...," my father sighed. "Before the Primordial One came to this world, Dragons dominated this entire world. The weak perished, and only the stronger ones survived. But your grandfather was against this. 'Every life has a right to live, even if they were weak or strong.' That's the motto he believed. So when the invasion came, they were promised to your grandfather to create a new world where everyone will be equal. So, your grandfather didn't participate in the war."
"Did the Primordial One keep his promise?" I asked.
"Yes... not to the last word, but he created a world where everyone can live equally. He used the power that he took from Dragons to create 'Visions.'
"Visions?"
"Yes, Visions." My father showed me a gem as big as a chicken egg on his chest. I could sense some immense power from it. But for some reason, I wanted to touch it.
"Can I touch it?"
"Of course you can, but be careful. A Vision gets stronger alongside its bearer and sometimes it shows the bearer's personality too. So you can get an idea about a vision bearer's personality based on the vision they have. A vision bestowed by Celestia if someone's will is stronger than anyone else's. I got my vision during a War I fought. I'm sure one day you will get your own vision too."
As he explained about visions, I touched his vision. Something strange happened. His vision started to shoot electric sparks, and suddenly my hand got stuck with those sparks. Electric sparks started to spread all over my body. I couldn't take my hand off.
"Dad, what's happening? I can't take my hand off."
"I don't know either."
The power started to surge even more. It started to vibrate. We tried our best to separate my hand and vision, but the surge became more powerful and then suddenly it blasted.
The blast sent us flying. I couldn't get up. My body started to feel numb. After getting up, my father quickly came to me and knelt down beside me.
"Shahasra, are you okay?"
"Somehow, still alive."
"Thank goodness. What just happened?"
"How the hell am I supposed to know?"
I felt weird. I tried to get up, but I tripped and fell.
"Let me help you." My father gave his hand to me. I took it, but...
"Ouch..." Dad took his hand back.
"What happened?"
"You just... electrocuted me. How?"
"I... I.... Maybe post-effect."
"I don't think so. Shahasra, Do what I'm doing... okay. Follow my martial stance."
He waved his right arm as if drawing a sword. "Imagine the power of lightning surging inside you, and channel that energy to your arm and strike."
A lightning wave came out from his arm and hit a nearby tree. My body still felt numb after that blast, but I wanted to give it a try anyway.
I started to imagine power of lightning surging inside me and I channelled that power to my right hand and struck.
A lightning wave came from my hand too. It didn't hit anything, but it travelled some distance and disappeared. My jaw dropped.
"WHAT THE HELL?" I screamed.
"As I suspected, Shahasra... It seems like you don't need a vision to control elemental powers. You are special, or I can say an exception."
