The first thing I should learn is not to judge people based on their appearance. He looks so calm. I greet him back. I bow down and say, "Nice to meet you, grandfather."
"Looks like you have so many questions. I think I can answer some of them," he said.
"Thank you. And sorry for bothering you."
"Don't be. I'm happy to help."
"So, I'm able to-" My question got paused because I saw something or someone coming running towards us in the distance.
"It looks like your other grandfather is here," Narukami said to me.
"My other?"
"Yes, your mother's father. King of Youkai. Akihiko."
I remembered Mom saying she wanted to meet her parents too, but I didn't expect this.
"Out of my way," he yelled while running towards us, using both of his arms and legs. "I can't stop myself."
In a moment of instinct, I dodged that bull express or fox express, and he crashed into a nearby tree and stopped.
"Ugh... That hurts," he said, getting up and shaking his body like a wet dog. Then he turned to me. Oh boy, this is going to be bad. He jumped towards me, saying, "Give your pops a hug, my boy." I couldn't move my body. But Shinano suddenly appeared in front of me and whacked her dad's head with her folding fan, smashing him to the ground.
"You're scaring him!" my mom yelled. "It hurts... ahhhhh. I'm not scaring him," he started to argue.
"Umm... I'm not scared. I'm just nervous, that's all," I replied.
"See, I told you," he said, standing up. "Woah, he's gigantic." He was over six feet, I think, maybe close to seven. He had a well-built body and twenty tails from his back, which meant he was older than 2000 years. He had white fur like mother.
"The coolest pops in the world is here!" he struck a weird pose.
"Ugh, ignore him," Shinano told me.
"It's okay, Shinano. I will take it from here. Why don't you two go inside and take some rest while Akihiko and I talk with our grandkid?" This literally meant that the thing we wanted to discuss was private. My parents bowed to them and went inside the castle.
"So, before we answer your questions, I think I should tell you what happened during the Invasion, why I was sealed here, and about my brothers and sisters."
"Long story short, a long time ago, as you know, this world was ruled by dragons. Our father, the Dragon King Nibelung, ruled over us all. He had seven children. I am the eldest one. The others are Nezha; the Dragon of the Sun, Poseidon; the Dragon of the Ocean, Zephyrion; the Dragon of Air, Verdantus; the Dragon of Nature, Hrimfangr; the Dragon of Frost and Snow, and Dìlóng; the Dragon of Earth. I was the Dragon of Lightning & Thunder. But everything changed in an instant. One day, someone from another world appeared. He declared war upon us, but before he declared war, he met with my father and told him he wanted to create a world that treated everyone as equals. He asked my father to change his rules, but my father didn't agree. Of course, it was reasonable. We can't just change our rules because a stranger told us to do so. But I got curious. I started to see the truth with my own eyes. He was right. Our subjects were suffering from our rules. I decided to talk with my father about this, but he totally ignored me. Then the war broke out. I decided to be a neutral party. We didn't stand a chance against them. My father found something called 'Forbidden knowledge.' He tried to use the power of that to fight back, but whatever that thing was, it backfired on my father and his allies. My father was totally corrupted. That 'Forbidden knowledge' started to destroy the whole nature of Teyvat. It was a disaster. But our enemy saved us. He killed my father to stop the spread and defeated and stole powers from others. As for me, he asked for my powers, so I gave them to him. After that, he used that power to seal the 'Forbidden knowledge.' After that, he sealed the powers of all dragons and created visions to give them to people who were worthy. Dragons were defeated, yet he created a balanced world. He created a new order called 'Heavenly principles,' and the rest of the story, I think you know."
"So, what is the connection between that story and my powers?" I asked.
"Connection? There is no connection between them."
"What? Then why did you--" I slowly realized what he meant.
"So, you realize it."
"Primordial one, not from this world, same as me. It means if I can meet him, I can find out who truly I am, right?"
"Exactly."
"But how should I meet him? I can't just fly up to Celestia and knock on his door and say, 'Hey, do you know where I came from because I lost my memories'? I can't say that."
My grandparents chuckled. "Controlling elemental powers without vision means you are breaking the rules of the new world. It means sooner or later, you will get the attention of Celestia," Narukami said.
"So, it's good, right?" I replied.
"No, it isn't," Akihiko said. "Don't you understand? It means they're going to kill you."
"But why?"
"Just imagine. After the war ended, the son of one of the seven main Dragons adopted a kid who fell from the sky and can control elemental powers. If I were one of the Celestial gods, I would definitely think this was a plan to regain the power of dragons," Akihiko replied to me.
Narukami knelt before me. "You have to become stronger, stronger than anyone else. You have to go on your own journey. When the time comes, until then..." He started to surge with lightning. "This isn't much, but this is all that's left of my powers. I will grant it to you. Use it wisely." A lightning struck me, and I started to feel power surging through my veins, just like the incident with my father, but a lot more powerful. After the lightning ended, I could sense the power of lightning surging inside me.
"Isshin will teach you how to control that power. Learn well," Narukami said.
I bowed down. "Thank you, Grandfather."
"Not only him," Grandfather Akihiko said. "I have something to give you too." He touched my forehead with three fingers, and I started to feel warm. After a few moments, he took his hands off.
"What was that?" I asked.
"I just transferred some of my Youkai powers. With those, you will be able to heal, hear, and see more than the average person. A physical enchantment." He was right. I could sense my eyesight and hearing had gotten a lot better. I bowed down again.
"Thank you, both of you. I will repay this one day."
"Don't think of it. It's natural for us to take care of our grandkid. Be stronger, Shahasra. Now go to your parents."
I went inside the castle.
***********
"I know you have a hunch about the origin of that kid, Narukami. Do you think what I'm thinking?" Akihiko asked Narukami.
Narukami just nodded. "Let's just call it a hunch, my friend."
"But that aura coming from him..."
"We saw nothing. It's all up to him."
