1931...

(This happened before the prologue)

(Damien's pov)

Father assigned me and Charles to lead the search for the most wanted criminal in our kingdom.

Apparently, an anonymous person has been attacking families for the past few weeks, and we've been receiving countless complaints letters, ever since, we've had sleepless nights.

I took in a deep breath of the fresh night breeze as the wind caressed my skin, the woods in which we were walking through held sounds of the crickets and nightingales.

The leaves left a crunchy sound as our house walked over the soil, there's something about the night that kept me calm.

Perhaps it's the peace and quiet, or maybe it's the aura that envelopes you and keeps your skin and feels awakened and alert.

We've been searching for hours but as usual the thief didn't leave a single trace behind.

I released a sigh of frustration as I turned to look at my men who followed my every lead and command.

Each man was mounted on his horse, and from the look of fatigue on their faces, i realised they were tried, i decided it was time to call it a night and processed by saying.

"Very well men, we've searched for hours, and I think it's time we retire back to our homes, I'll send out my word to you all when we need to Continue with the search."

I turned to my brother Charles and said

"Prince Charles would lead you all back to the castle."

"Won't you join us, brother?" Charles questioned

"I have something I would like to do before I retire for the night." I replied.

"Very well, men, shall we?" He said, and in a few minutes, they were all gone .

I dismounted my house while guiding it through the woods.

I liked spending quality time with my horse Fareed. He has been a great companion through the past years.

After taking a stroll through the woods and becoming one with the night, I finally decided it was time for I and Fareed to retire for the night.

That was until I heard soft groans and cries coming from a distant part of the wood.

It sounded like someone was having a hard time breathing and for a minute I thought it could be the theif so in hurried yet quiet steps I walked towards the sounds, that was after I quickly tied fareed to a tree branch

"Be quite boy, I'll be back in a few." I said and walked into the dense Bush, I pushed through tree branch and almost got stuck to a branch but I made it towards the clearing where the sound came from, with my hands hovering above my sword that was stuck to my waist band.

I was ready to attack, I was so ready to behead whoever the theif was but I halted in my steps because instead of a theif I met a woman who was curled up with her hair cascading over her petite yet bold figure

Her clothes were torn and tattered, leaving quite a sight of her exposed skin, which was bleeding.

"Are you okay?" I questioned softly so as not to startle her, but that didn't work cause she abruptly stood up and retreated back.

"You don't have to be scared of me." I said while taking cautious steps towards her, but each step I took towards her, she took one step back.

"W-who are you?" She questioned in a quivering voice, and I tried to ignore how sweet her voice sounded. It was appealing to the ear and almost sinful to hear.
