1931...

The two brothers, Damien and Charles, stood ontop of the stone balcony of the palace, The sun was setting, casting an orange glow over the kingdom and bathing the land in a golden light.

On this fateful evening,
Damien stood in a tense posture as he replayed his brothers words, which was charles conveying his feelings for bethy.

It seems like Charles ended up liking bethy, but he doubted his brothers feelings for bethy were as deep as his.

Damien would have given Charles his blessings to court bethy had she not confessed her feelings for him the other day.

"Charles..." Damien started off with a heavy sigh

He didn't know how to tell his brother that he and bethy were already a couple, and he didn't plan on letting her go anytime soon.

In fact, he didn't plan on letting her go at all.

It also broke his heart to see the huge smile on Charles face as he talked so dearly about bethy, the woman he met in the castles hallway.

Charles, hearing how his brother called his name, knew that something was wrong and his smile was quickly replaced with a frown.

"Charles," Damien began, his voice laced with contempt, "I and bethy are actually together." He started off but was quickly cut short by Charles, who said.

"What do you mean together?" He asked as his frown deepened.

Charles has always admired his brother, but that didn't mean that he didn't envy him at times.

He always felt that Damien had more than him, but he did his best to always push those negative feelings aside.

But today, he came to Damien, sharing his admiration and affection for bethy, and his brother is already trying to take her away from him?

"Is this some sort of joke, brother?" Charles questioned in a deep, menacing tone.

"Do I look like one to joke with a topic that concerns the woman i love?" Damien answered with a question of his own, as anger coated his tone.

Charles scoffed at his brothers words.

"Love?, now you claim to love her?, tell me Damien, when did you start loving random women you picked from the woods?, or is it just because she's a woman with a luscious body and great features?, you want to get her on your bed, don't you?" Charles questioned.
He was blinded by his anger and was letting his rage take control of his words and emotions.

He felt his desire for bethy turn into a deep, ugly rage, and in the process, he spurted things he would have never dared to utter to Damien.

Damien was absolutely furious upon hearing Charles words, he was okay with Charles insulting him, but speaking so casual and insulting of the woman he loved was way beyond Charles.

"Be careful of the words you utter to me, Charles, and the words you utter about bethy for she shall be your future queen."

Damien said in a warning tone.

"What?, too scared to admit that you don't want the woman for anything except for her looks?" Charles challenged Damien.

Damiens fist was suddenly on Charles jaw as he hit his brother so hard, which caused Charles to stumble and fall.

Damien's face grew stern.

"You are wrong, Charles. Bethy's choice is her own, not a prize to be claimed. You have no right to speak of her in such a manner, and i would say this just one more time to you, watch how you speak about my woman"

Charles's anger flared.

"Right?, You speak of right and wrong, but all I see is a brother who has stolen from me. Bethy is nothing more than a fleeting fancy for you, a mere trinket to be discarded when you tire of her."

"All women are that to you, they've been a distraction and nothing more."

The words struck Damien like a dagger. His eyes darkened with fury. "How dare you speak of her so? Bethy is a woman of grace and virtue, and she deserves respect, not the disdain you offer."

Without another word, Damien lunged at Charles, the tension of their confrontation erupting into a fierce battle. The brothers fist clashed with the fury of their emotions, their fist against each other as the sky grew darker and the first stars appeared.

Their struggle was fierce, a reflection of the deep conflict within them. Charles, driven by jealousy and anger, fought with a reckless abandon, while Damien, fueled by a sense of betrayal and protectiveness, countered with determined resolve.

As the fight wore on, the ancient stone of the balcony bore witness to their fight. Their once unbreakable bond was tested, leaving scars not just on their bodies but on their hearts. The evening ended not with a resolution but with the brothers standing apart, both exhausted and wounded, as the distant songs of minstrels continued, indifferent to the turmoil of the royal family.

In that moment, the two brothers, who had once been inseparable, faced the consequences of their divided hearts.

They were eventually stopped by several guards, but it was no doubt that the relationship between two brothers had been damaged because of a woman whose heart held nothing but love and affection.
