1931...

(Third person's pov)

Bethy could hardly stop smiling as she walked down the corridors of the palace.

She was reminiscing about the time she spent in the waterfall with Prince Damien when she collided with a sturdy chest.

She almost fell flat on the castle floor, but two muscular arms were suddenly wrapped tightly around her waist.

Her eyes widened as she looked up and was met with a pair of green beautiful eyes.

She was so lost in the person's eyes that she didn't realise she was staring a little too long until the person cleared his throat.

"Are you okay?" He questioned in a gentle voice.
His voice caressed her skin like a gentle breeze, almost soothing her soul.

"Umm, yes, thank you." She replied as she attempted to move away from him.

The man looked at her once more, clearly checking her out before he let her go.

"I'm Charles, by the way." He said, waiting for her to introduce herself to him.

"Bethy." She replied with a simple nod.

"I haven't seen you around before, are you new?" He questioned.

"Yes, Damien brought me here." She replied.

"Damien?" Charles questioned at the way she addresses his brother without any formalities.

"Pardon me, I meant His Highness brought me here." She said as she looked down at her feet due to the embrassment she felt.

"My brother never told me that he brought in a fine young lady into the castles ground." He said as amusement painted his features due to how shy the lady before him was.

_Cute_ he thought.

He stared at her a little too long before he said.

"It was nice meeting you, bethy." And with that, he left.

It was no doubt that Prince Charles had met a lot of beautiful women in his life, but bethy...

There was just something special about her.

He could feel it in the air he breathed in when he was within her vicinity.

He didn't realise he was smiling as he thought of how her cheeks turned pink when she got embarrassed.

The realisation that he was in smiles made him halt in his steps

He didn't smile. No one could make him smile.

But the mere thought of a stranger he met a few minutes ago brought a smile to his face.

Charles didn't know if this was a good thing or a bad thing, but he hoped it was good.

The next day...

Bethy was standing on the castle field with Damien as he was teaching her how to use a sword.

He wrapped his arms gently around hers as he showed her how to move the swords in her arms.

They were both in the middle of practice when a guard came to call Damien for an emergency meeting where his attention was urgently needed.

"I'm sorry, bethy, but we'd continue another time." He promised.

"It's okay, thanks for teaching me." She said with a smile that warmed his heart.

"My pleasure." He said, and with one final look, he left.

Bethy decided to stay on the field and practice out more moves.

She kept swinging the sword in different directions without a care in the world.
After all, she was the only one on the field, or so she thought.

Prince Charles was passing by when the sight of a lady swinging her sword made him stop.

Ah, it was Bethy

He thought.

He stayed there for minutes, watching her as a smile once again overtook his features.

It suddenly started raining, and that made bethy stop as she dropped the sword to twirl around in the rain.

She looked to the sky as rain droplets fell onto her delicate skin.

She started dancing in the rain while playing in the puddle with her bare feet.

Her movements came to a stop as she met his dark green eyes.

She didn't know why, but she felt the need to drag him into the rain with her.

After all, no one was watching.

And with that thought, she ran towards Charles, tugged at his arm, and pulled him under the rain.

Charles was stunned at her sudden movements.

"Come on, dance with me, Charles." She urge.

"I don't dance." He said in a gruff tone.

"I'll teach you." She replied.

"Is this okay?" She asked as she hesitantly wrapped his arms around her waist.

Charles couldn't move. He was stunned at her bold movements, and yet he couldn't bring himself to take his arms away off her waist.

She gently wrapped her arms around his neck as she rested her head on his chest.

Charles didn't know why, but he wanted to try this.

With her.
He wanted to.

So he pulled her closer and said

"It's more than okay."

"Just pretend that there is a song playing right now." Bethy said as she swayed in his arms

"I always did this with my brother back at home." She said, sadness coating her words.

_brother?_
Charles thought

Did she do this because she missed her brother? Did she not feel the attraction he felt towards her?' He wanted to ask her these questions but decided he didn't want to dampen the mood.

So he gently swayed her in his arms, and he let himself be lost in the feel of this woman he met today.

They stayed like that for a while, till the rain stopped

"Thank you for dancing with me. You remind me of my brother." Bethy said, and she went on her toes as she pecked his cheek.

"Thank you." She said, and with that, she sprinted away.

She really liked Charles. He was so gentle like Damien, and he reminded her of her brother.

But what she didn't know was that Charles didn't see her the same way she saw him.

She had no idea the fire of desire and love she just erupted in his heart.
