1931...

In the midst of chaos and destruction that was brought upon a peaceful land, Prince Damien was hosting a ball in honour of his woman.

The palace was busy all week, trying to prepare for it.

The servants moved in hectic speed, and the guards have been on high alert and pace, just to assure that everything goes perfectly as planned

After all, it had to be the best as the Prince was introducing his woman to the world.

Charles has been keeping himself busy since the conversation (fight) he had with his brother.

Many whispered about it within the walls of the castles.

Some say it was reckless of him to face the Crown Prince head on, while others say..., the crown prince shouldn't have gone to such lengths and extent for a mere commoner.

Charles locked himself up in his room and refused to come out unless it was absolutely necessary.

2 days later.

It was finally the night of the ball. The kingdom was excited as everyone couldn't wait to see the woman that their prince had chosen for them as crown princess.

Surely, she had to be one of great knowledge, wealth or royalty.

Bethy was getting prepared in her room, completely unaware of the chaos that had been brewing between two brothers because of her.

She wore a black dress, which was embroidered with emerald stones at the waist.
The dress hugged her body in all the right places and pronounced her curves even more.

Her hair was left to flow down her shoulders in beautiful waves.

She looked absolutely breathtaking with the light makeup that was applied to her face.

She looked perfect.

Bethy almost couldn't recognise herself as she looked into the mirror.

"Wow."

Was all she was able to utter as she took in her looks once more.

"Thank you, Diana, I love it." She thanked Diana and all the other maids present who helped her in getting ready.

"You're welcome, my lady." Diana replied with a curtsy.

A guard came in to request for her presence, saying it was time for her to make herself known to the whole kingdom.

Bethy was a little nervous, sure she was happy that Damien took her so seriously that he wanted to introduce her to his kingdom, but the thoughts of 'what ifs' kept filling her head.

She exited the room as she made her way towards the hall where the ball was being held. Upon reaching the entrance, she started descending down the spiral staircase in careful movements.

Her breath was caught in her throat as the hall came into view.

Everything was absolutely stunning. Women of Upper class were dressed in such sofisticated styles that complemented their beauty.
And the hall was decorated in black and golden colours.

Her eyes roamed around the room until it landed on the man who was patiently waiting for her at the end of the stairs.

A smile graced her lips at his sight, and she let her eyes roam over his manly features.

He looked handsome.
No one in the ball could looked as good as he did.

In fact, in her eyes, no one in the whole world did.

He brought his hand forward as she reached the last step, and she locked her arms around his.

"You look stunning, amara." He whispered in her ears as he wrapped his arms around her waist and led her towards the guests.

After hours of introduction, bethy and Damien were finally able to have their time alone as the guest were being served with delicacies.

"So what do you think?" Damien said while casually sticking a conversation with her.

"It's beautiful, and everyone is so nice and generous." She replied

"Well, I'm glad you like it." Damien said while gently pecking her lips.

"Hey, have you seen Charles? It's been quite a few days since my last encounter with him." She mumbled as her brows ceased together in thought.

Apart from Damien and Diana, Charles was her only other companion, and it had been quite a few days since she's last heard of him.

Damien stiffened upon hearing her question. He felt bad about the fight that went down between him and Charles a few days ago, but his brother had it coming with the way he spoke about his woman

"Do you need him for something?" He asked as a frown graced his face.

Bethy was about to reply when she heard a loud crash, which was followed a minute later by horrified screams.

Her body shook in terror as
deja vù struck her to the core.

This...

The screams, they felt familiar.

It sounded like the echoes of horrors that she kept hearing in her homeland before she ran away.

"What is happening?" Damien asked in fury.

He did his best to ensure that today was perfect as he planned on proposing to bethy, but it seemed like God wasn't on his side.

"Guards!" He called while throwing orders around.

"Stay by my side at all cost." Damien whispered to her.

Looking to the middle of the dance ball was prince Charles standing there with a maniac look on his face as he held a child who looked to be around the age of seven in his arms by the throat.

"Who's next, bethy?" He questioned with an evil smirk.
