2030...

(Veronica's pov)

Two days later, I started to feel better, but i was still high from the recent rush of events.

I haven't seen Austin during that period of time.

It was like he was avoiding me cause I asked everyone in our group about him, and they all either gave me strange looks or said, 'Sorry, I have no idea where he is'

Something told me that they were lying, but I decided to drop the questions.

I just wanted to thank Austin for taking care of me. That was all.

Well, I guess I was also curious about the way he treated me. Is that how male friends treat you when you're hurt or was there more to his actions?.

Ahhh!

All this was getting so frustrating, not to mention that Lily has been giving me occasional glares ever since I woke up.

I wanted to ask her what was wrong, but I haven't really had the time or courage to confront her.

I was currently in class, lost in my thoughts when Grace walked up to me.

"Come on, Veronica, let's go get something to eat." She said as we were on a lunch break.

She dragged me towards a classroom filled with everyone from our group.

Including... Austin.

My heart did a little summersault the minute I met his gaze.

His eyes held my mine for a minute long, and I felt tingles run down my spine.

I quickly averted my gaze away from his, but I could still feel his stare on me.

"Okay, so she's here now. Can we start?" Lily said in an irritated tone.

I guess they were waiting for me?

The boys formed a circle, and the girls did the same.

They all brought out snacks from their backpack and started sharing them around the tables.

"We've been doing this ever since we all got to know each other." Grace explained once she saw the confused expression on my face.

I settled down beside Grace and mandy.

Mandy gave me a slight smile, and I returned it with a grateful one.

"So, who has done their project?" Greg questioned, breaking the silence.

I kept shut as they all conserved.

It warmed my heart to know that they were trying to include me in all their activities, but I still felt like an intruder.

After having our light snacks, it was finally time to get back to class.

We all stood up, and everyone started exiting the classroom.

Austin was ahead of me, while Elijah was behind me.

The others were all outside the classroom.

Austin was about to exist the classroom when a strong gush of wind blew in and shut the door tight.

"What the fuck?!" Austin question.

He tried reaching for the handle but winced and pulled his hand away.

I frowned as I saw how his skin burned upon touching the door knob.

What's happening?

"Hey, is everything okay?" Lilly questioned from the other side of the door, and I could hear the muffled voice of the others as well.
