"Wattpad Featured Author presents: 'One of Us Will Die (Who's Next?)'
In this gripping mystery/thriller novel, Damien and Bethy's love story transcends time, fueled by faith and bound together by fate. But their destiny is entwined in a sinister gam...
A woman whose eyes were bleeding whispered to me in the dark forest. Sweat trickled down my forehead as my lungs suddenly felt too stuffy, and breathing was suddenly alarmingly hard.
'The game made me burn my 9 month year old baby!' Another woman's cries echoed through the forest. More people came from behind the trees demanding for the lives of their loved ones, and my head ached as I stumbled over a tree branch, I struggled to get back on my feet as my vision blurred with tears.
"What do you all want?!" I screamed while tugging harshly at the ends of my hair, i tried moving away from the sad haunting faces that kept multiplying endlessly.
'Bring them back!' the voices demanded.
'My daughter was innocent!'
'My wife did nothing wrong'
'My mother stabbed me'
was echoed all around me from the distance.
I tried running away from the horrifying cries and endless demands, but I kept coming back to the same scene. Faces of mothers crying and beheaded people were all I saw.
I felt sick as I cried, begging them to stop. Instead, their screams echoed more loudly and so were their demands.
Tears kept streaming down my cheeks in an endless meander as the scene before me slowly faded away, and a beautiful garden came into view.
There, on the beautiful green field, was a girl who looked to be in her mid-twenties. A beautiful smile was graced upon her lips as she closed her eyes and took in a deep breath.
A giggle escaped her lips as a male figure came into the scene and hugged her from behind.
"How long have you been sitting here, Amara?" he questioned her as she rested her head on his shoulder.
"Not quite long," she replied.
"Is this about the rumours that have been spreading again?" he asked her in worried.
"Damien, the rumors are true, all this is only happening because I led the game here, and now we have lost countless of precious and innocent lives, Charles is still yet to awaken, and it is all because of me." She said sadly.
"Don't say that, Amara, everything happens for a reason, and this is just a test which we would overcome, As long as we have one another, then we will defeat the game." He replied with so much conviction laced in his tone.
"I just hope you are right, Damien." She said, and he replied by gently pecking her lips and saying. "Me too, Amara, me too."
The scene before also faded away as I felt a familiar warmth envelope my shivering body, I was still trying to comprehend the events which happened before my eyes when I heard a soothing warm voice from the distance say
"Wake up, prescelto, baby wake up."
That voice, that voice belongs to Austin, I thought as I tried reaching for the voice, but my body was suddenly tugged harshly from behind as I was pulled into another eye wrenching scene.
This was worse than anything I have witnessed before.
There, inside a dark room that looked similar to a cave, was a man who stood in the middle of the room, wearing a grey hood above his head. Skeletons lay on the cold ground of the room, the room smelled strongly of metallic blood, and close to the man stood the same girl from the previous scene.
"The only way to stop the game is if you follow the rituals that has been scripted on the paper, remember the process should not be altered and you would need three extra lives to perform the ritual with you" the man said in a tone which held superioty and left Goosebumps awakening on my skin.
"Is there a time limit to performing the ritual?" the girl questioned.
"No, but remember to cast the spell that ends the game, then a life must be sacrificed." The man said.
"Any life? "she questioned.
He was about to say something else when loud bells suddenly rang inside the walls of my head. I clutched my head as the pain intensified. It was as though someone was twisting a metal through it.
My body felt too heavy to stand as a strong wave of nausea graced itself upon me.
Everything was slowly fading away, as a gentle voice said in a pleading tone.
"Come back to me, prescelto."
My body felt as if it was being puled from a deep ocean.
I woke up gasping loudly as my sweat clutched my clothing to my skin.
My whole body was shivering due to the triggering scene i just witnessed, and I was about to go back into the dark abyss when a strong, warm hand wrapped itself around me.
"You're back." He whispered, sounding relieved.
"I think I just had flashes of the past." I said to Austin as a feeling of doom settled within the pit of my stomach
