1931...The kingdom bled on a stormy night due to the chaos, which erupted days ago. It caused depression and made the mood all gloomy and devastating.
The maids in the palace whispered the tales of horror that had befallen upon their people, and it was no doubt that many of the people suspected it to be a curse, a curse which was brought from the woman who held the heart of their beloved crown prince.
'Maiden Bethy' they identified her as.
But others called her the 'cursed lady' since that unfaithful night.
What befell upon them was still a mystery to many, but most of the people of the kingdom have heard tales of the horrifying tale about the dark game.
They all suspected bethy to be the cause as they found out that she was from the same land where the game originated.
Where it all started."Gruno, how do we stop this?"
Damien's powerfully voice vibrated through the walls of his Chambers.
The three figures who stood inside the room were engrossed in a deep conversation about the game while not letting anyone inside the Chambers.
"Do you have the spell your mother gave you, my lady?" Gruno, a powerful wizard who has known for his unrivalled magical abilities, questioned.
"Yes, I have it tucked amongst my belongings inside my Chambers." Bethy replied in a quiet tone.
"I think you should get the spell so that I could look through it. We'd start from there." Gruno said as he thought deeply about the situation which they were stuck in.
"Sure, I'll be right back." Bethy replied as she excused herself from their presence.
The two male proceeded to discuss more on the recent happenings.
They spent almost half an hour conversing before Bethy graced them with her presence.
"Here it is." She said, and she came to a stop in front of Gruno while handing him the spell that was scripted on a worn-out paper.
The words written on the paper looked alien to a person who wasn't a master in the world of magic.
But it was easy for Gruno as he was fully versed in the art of magic.
His forehead ceased as he read over the words.A look of doom coated his facial features as his finger traced over the words.
"I was afraid it would have to cost so much to end the game." He said in a gruff tone.
"What does it say?" Damien questioned.
"A blood ritual would have to be performed." Gruno replied.
"Blood ritual?" Bethy asked.
"Yes, more specifically, a sacrifice would have to be made, but we can't just sacrifice any life." Gruno explained further.
"The wizard in my kingdom, Hezron, he was the man who gave the spell book to my mother, and he also said the same thing to me." Bethy said.
"Apparently, the person who would be sacrificed would be the person who started the game." Gruno said.
"Your aunt isabella, isn't she the one who started all this madness?" Damien questioned.
"Yes, but she disappeared after her daughter died."
Bethy explained."What if she's still out there and she's in full possession of the game?" Damien questioned.
"Do you mean to say that if we're able to destroy the creator of the game, then the game also automatically dies?" Bethy directed her question to Gruno.
"Exactly." Gruno replied.
"But how do we find her?" Bethy questioned.
"We'd have to follow her traces, search everywhere for her, because I am afraid that if we do not find her and end her, then this bombardment of a game that she created would NEVER end." Gruno said.
"But to follow her traces, that means we would have to start with my homeland." Bethy said as a shiver crawled up her spine at the memories of her homeland.
"I would go with the guards and start searching for her. You should stay in the castle grounds." Damien said as he leaned on the wall close to the window of his Chambers.
A force of determination engulfed bethy.
She truly believe that no one knew her homeland better than she did, so she decided that she was going to accompany the crown prince, after all she didn't feel so safe in the palace since the chaos started."I would go with you." She said in a firm tone.
"It would be dangerous, and I would rather not have you there with me." Damien said to her.
"But having me there would make everything so much easier for you, after all it is my home land and I know my aunt better than anyone, so it would be good if I accompanied you." Bethy said, conviction laced in her tone.
"I suggest that the lady escorts us. She is right about knowing her homeland best." Gruno said.
Damien wanted to argue, but the look on Bethy's face made him realise that she wouldn't be moved by whatever he said to her."And moreover we'd be together, which would be the best option." She said in a much more softer tone, which made Damien sigh in agreement.
"Fine, you can come with me, but you'd have to stay by my side at all times." Damien said.
"Gladly, thank you, Damien." Bethy said with a smile on her face as she engulfed Damien in a warm hug.
He hugged her back like she was the pillar he needed to lean on, he hugged her back like she was the drug which soothed his soul, and most importantly he hugged her back because he realised how much he needed her."Thank you, Damien." She once again repeated her gratitude.
She knew that people also accused him of being the reason destruction bloomed in the land, as he was the one who brought her into the kingdom. She wasn't deaf to the whispers in the corridors of the castle, and she was also not blind to the harsh glares she received occasionally.
"Thanks for everything." She whispered one more time as her hands caressed his hair.
"Don't mention it, amara. I would always defend you in any situation." He said.
The wizard silently excused himself out of the Chambers so as to give the couple the privacy they needed.
The sand might have tasted and soaked the blood of the people, but the stars were witness to the bond between Bethy and Damien, which grew stronger from that night onwards.
