[Plaza]
Kathryn and Thalia had traded their uniforms for local attire. Some people were looking at them hanging up in the clothing store display window.
„We can assume that Voyager will be looking for a way to reach us. I'll set my comm. badge to emit a subspace beacon. If they get close, maybe they'll pick it up.", Kathryn said.
„Maybe there's some way that-", Thalia started but Kathryn interrupted her.
„Don't even think about it, Lia. The Prime Directive is clear. We cannot allow our presence to alter this planet's natural course of events.", she stated.
„Even if the natural course of events is annihilation?", Thalia asked.
„Yeah.", Kathryn said.
„My mother used to talk at length to me about the Prime Directive, once a year, like a holiday sermon.", Thalia said smiling.
„She considered it the guiding principle of space exploration.", Kathryn said.
„To be honest, I tuned out most of her sermons years ago.", Thalia admitted.
„Well, tune back into this one, because I agree with her. You have no idea what the consequences might be once you involve yourself.", Kathryn said
„The consequences would have to be better than mass destruction.", Thalia replied.
„You're not to warn these people. That's an order.", Kathryn said.
Thalia nodded and took a slow, deep breath.
„Are you alright?", Kathryn asked concerned.
„Just a bit nauseous. Probably a side effect of the time traveling.", Thalia said.
The young boy was back, and staring at them.
„Oh, god. Come on.", Kathryn said, but the boy ran and stopped in front of them.
„I know you're lying.", he stated.
„Young man, we're here on a business trip and we have a lot of work to do.", Kathryn said stern.
„The officer told me you came here on the continental transport.", the boy stated.
„That's right, we're from Kalto Province.", Kathryn told him.
„Yeah? Well I just talked to the transport attendant, He told me four people came today from Kalto. Two of them were a lot older than you and they had a child with them.", the boy said.
„Well the attendant was wrong. That was us.", Kathryn lied.
„So, where's the child?", the boy asked.
„We ate him, because we are demons and we eat children and I haven't had my supper yet.", Thalia said and charged at the boy. Immediately the boy ran off and Kathryn gave Thalia a disapproving look.
„Sorry. I just figured it was the quickest way.", Thalia defended herself.
„Let's concentrate on getting out of here.", Kathryn said.
Thalia examined the energy conduit running along the side of the plaza.
„The same subspace fractures that brought us here might still be around. If they were caused by a polaric explosion? Is there any way we could use polaric energy to get us back?", she asked.
„If we had access to a polaric ion generator, we could modify a tricorder to emit a polaric field. At the very least it might help us scan for a fracture.", Kathryn replied.
