The next morning was a bit rough as Raquel kept giving me something to help with the pain but this pain was never going to go away.
Raquel sat down on the ground to be under me so I didn't have to look up and hurt my neck as one of the cuts ran up to my shoulder.
She pulled her legs up to her chest and looked out the barn door as it was still raining, "We go along with their plans but don't say a word. We act ok when we walk into someone else's house and take their things. Our lives have always been nothing but you have to be the meaner person. I don't know how much more I can handle of this."
I glanced down at her, "I haven't been here long but I see the way you act around Maddox and Solomon. You don't belong here Raquel."
Raquel glanced back at me when someone walked into the barn.
Raquel got up and looked at them, "She isn't taking guests and honestly, the fuck is you even doing here?"
I knew then who Raquel was yelling at.
I pushed myself up which was a mistake as Raquel looked back at me, "You are gonna bleed moving!"
I pushed her away from me as Solomon looked me in the eyes.
"Leave Raquel, I need to talk to him alone." I said back to her.
Raquel nodded her head as she went out of the barn.
I didn't move as Solomon just looked at my hands that were still covered in mud and my blood.
"My actions are my own and I don't know what to say." Solomon cracked at me.
"You grabbed the whip thinking that you could save me. You did something thinking that I would be ok."
Solomon looked at me.
"I was stripped of my clothes and dragged out into the mud. I was forced infront of everyone in this village to watch as I cried out for help but everyone around me couldn't do a thing as your father and uncle would have killed them. My friends stepped up and protected me. Your own brother protected me!"
"I'm sorry McKenzie."
"You are not sorry. You are just happy to see your family smiling at you. That Isabel's family is smiling at you that they see you for that big man that you say that you are. You are nothing Solomon! You are nothing but a coward! You are weak!"
Solomon nodded his head back at me.
"You are never going to be a king that your father is. You are never going to match up to him."
Solomon stopped and looked at me.
"You wanna be a king then being a king. Don't look at me and think that drawing my blood is protecting me. Don't look at your sister after she was almost validated like she did something wrong. You should have run to her and hugged her. You should have protected her and listened to her. You should have cried to see her in pain and fear covering her face. Not adding more pain to her body."
Solomon crossed his arms.
"You aren't the man that everyone says that you are. You are such a fucking coward. You hit me thinking that Loki wouldn't do a thing after that. He wants me dead Solomon! That man has had it out for me the second I got here!"
