20. Now It Waits Patiently To Draw From Out Blood

                Maverick glanced up from his sword as he saw the horse racing off from the camp. He smiled as Sanna walked around the corner.

She stopped and looked at him.

"Good night Sanna." Maverick turned around and went into his little cabin as Sanna nodded her head and went back toward the main house.

Maverick glanced over as Caleb walked into the cabin. "You shouldn't be here."

Caleb tossed the burlap bag over to Maverick.

Maverick looked down at the bag.

"Kingston has been watching everyone for a while and now I think I know why."

Maverick sat down at his table as Caleb sat down across from him.

Maverick undid the bag as the map rolled out.

"Kingston is on a mission." Caleb pointed at the map. "I stole this from their castle. They are planning for a mass overtaking. And it is something that we won't be able to escape."

Maverick glanced back at him, "Are you sure?"

"Kingston has a backing unlike anyone else. I saw the bodies moving in. they aren't from around here. Whoever is backing Kingston doesn't know about this."

Maverick glanced at the door as someone walked by, "You know that Kane is dead, right?"

Caleb narrowed his eyes, "Who did that?"

"Solomon grabbed McKenzie and tossed her for death in the morning."

"McKenzie, that girl wouldn't hurt Kane." Caleb looked back at him.

Maverick pointed down at the map, "This is Isabel's family's territory."

Caleb shook his head, "That was being overtaken the day I left. I would think they are all dead by now."

"She has a few brothers back there." Maverick said back to him.

"No, she doesn't."

"Her father was just killed the other day and now I know that her family back at home is gone? Caleb this isn't good news for anyone."

Caleb sat back in the chair, "So tomorrow how many people are gonna be pissed that McKenzie is going to die?"

Maverick glanced back at him.

"I see that little look, I can see that you are gonna be heartbroken. I can see that shit."

Maverick jumped up as Axel ran through the door, "The fuck Axel?"

"She is gone, she is just gone." Axel looked back at him then at Caleb at the table. "Caleb, where have you been?"

Caleb turned around in the chair smiling, "So McKenzie is gone?"

Maverick glared back at him, "Shut up Caleb."

"This is gonna be amazing to see unfold. I mean the girl that killed the king is just gone." Caleb jumped up looking back at Maverick, "Maybe you could get that fairy tale ending with her."

"Any chance Solomon can kill you?" Maverick said as he went after the two out of the house.

Maverick stopped as he saw Maddox and Carrigan walking toward him and Solomon storming out of the chambers.
