I woke up at nine in the morning to go to church, which was over thirty minutes away. I invited Brendan, and he said he would love to go, which made me feel good in a way. He was turning into my best guy friend.
My phone buzzed; Brendan texted me.
Brendan: I'm walking over
Me: You don't have to walk over! We can come get you
Brendan: Too late!
Before I knew it, there was a knock at the door. I sigh and answer it. Brendan was standing there with a grin on his face, and his lip ring was in surprisingly.
We all loaded into the van and drove to Salem. I always bring my earbuds so I could listen to my music and not mainstream pop artists that come on the radio.
I give an earbud to Brendan, and I play "The Jetset Life is Gonna Kill You" by My Chemical Romance.
We eventually get to Union Life Church, and we all climb out of the van. Helena, Kayla, and I start walking over to the youth, but I could tell Brendan was feeling like an awkward turtle. I motion him over, and he eventually follows me.
We see a good friend of ours (Helena, Kayla, and me): Brian Huckle. "Hey guys," he greets. He hugs us, and looked at Brendan. He asks, "B, you have a boyfriend? When did this happen?" I laugh and try not to blush, and say, "No, no, he's just a good friend of mine. This is Brendan." I motion to Brendan and say, "Brendan, this is Brian." Brian waves slightly and so does Brendan.
Service starts, and our pastor, Jay Boston, stands up to the front and asks, "How's everyone doing this morning?" Everybody answers there goods and some shouts. He continues. "I see some new faces today. Sandy brought a friend, B got a boyfriend, you know, all that good stuff." My jaw drops to the floor, and everyone looks at us. I look over to Brendan who's blushing like crazy. I couldn't help but giggle a little.

Church ends, and we talk to some people in the youth section. Josh Nicholas comes over and says, "Hey B. Hey B's boyfriend." I almost yell at him, "He's not my boyfriend! He's just a good friend of mine. It'll be the day I get a boyfriend."
We get back in the van to head back south. I give Brendan one of my earbuds and play "The Balcony Scene" by Pierce the Veil.
As we're driving down the road, Brendan didn't say anything to us. He was thinking about things. About me? About his friends back in New Jersey? It was probably when I said that it'll be the day I get a boyfriend. Maybe he was thinking about Veronica and people back in Jersey. I don't have much to say to him except sorry, you're not in Jersey anymore.
