The next Wednesday after my birthday was the Nickelback concert. I was so excited! Brendan told me that he was going to meet Brooklyn today. I hope that goes well.
My dad comes into my room and asks, "Ready?" I answer, "More than ever."
Brendan's P.O.V.
Guess who I'm meeting today...Brooklyn. I'm nervous as hell. Brianna is going to the Nickelback concert with Brian tonight so I can't just text her when it's awkward.
As I'm sitting in my room tinkering with my guitar, Dad comes in. "Hey, Brendan."
"Hey, Dad."
He comes over and sits on my bed with me. "I really hope you like Brooklyn and Lucy."
"Who's Lucy?"
"Her daughter. Don't worry, she's ten."
"Oh, thank God. I didn't want her to be in love with me when she knows I have Brianna."
"True. She'll be here any minute now."
I nod and put my guitar on its stand. I follow Dad downstairs and sit on the sectional waiting...

About five minutes later, there's a knock on the door. Dad gets up and answers it, and a blonde woman and a girl walk in. I stand up to be less awkward. "Hi, you must be Brendan," the woman, who's obviously Brooklyn, says. "I'm Brooklyn, and this is my daughter Lucy." I wave a little and say, "Hello." Dad asks, "Hey Brendan, why don't you take Lucy up to your room so Brooklyn and I can talk for a little bit." I nod and go up to my room, Lucy following.
We get up there and I sit criss-cross on my bed and Lucy sits on the rolling chair at my desk. "Hi Lucy," I say to break the ice.
"Hi," she replies awkwardly.
"How are you?"
"I'm okay."
"How old are you?"
"Ten."
"So you're in fifth grade?"
"Yeah. Now let me ask some things about you. How old are you?"
"I'm fifteen."
"Do you have a girlfriend?"
"Yes, I do."
"What's her name?"
"Her name is Brianna."
"What does she look like?"
I pull up a picture of Brianna and I together and show Lucy. "She's pretty," she says.
"I know she is."
She looks over at the guitar Tyler gave me and asks, "You play guitar?"
"Yeah! My brother got me that guitar for Christmas."
"Where is he?"
Pause. "He's not here..."
"Is he dead?"
I nod a little and say, "Yes. He is."
"Well, that sucks." Thanks for the support, you little brat. "I'm thirsty."
"Come downstairs with me so you can get something."
We go downstairs and since the living room is right next to the kitchen, we could see Dad and Brooklyn clearly making out on the couch. Lucy and I look at each other and she yells, "Oh my glob! Mom!" They stop and look over at us. Brooklyn stands up and says, "We should go. C'mon Lucy." Lucy says, "Coming!" They leave, and the night is over.

The next day, that evening, Dad, Brooklyn, and I went to Brianna's house for dinner. Well, let's just say that Brooklyn and Brianna don't get along.
Brooklyn: "Hi, I'm Brooklyn."
Brianna: "I'm Brianna."
Brooklyn: "You must be Brendan's girlfriend."
Brianna: "Yes, I am."
Brooklyn: "And you like the same 'emo' music he listens to?"
Brianna: "Please don't."
Brooklyn: *pause* "You draw, don't you? I've seen a couple of your drawings."
Brianna: "I take a lot of pride into my work. Would you like to see them?"
Brooklyn: "No thank you. I wouldn't want to interrupt the Satanic ritual."
Brianna: *to me* "Can I choke her?"

(A/N: Another really short chapter, but the next one will be longer. It's going to skip to the well-known event Thunder Over Louisville. That's on April 18, 2015. Let's continue our story, shall we?)
