I wake up on Saturday and immediately want to go back to sleep until Brendan texts me.
Brendan: Morning! I was wondering if you want to hang out later tonight
Me: What time?
Brendan: 9ish
Me: Do you really think my dad and Amy will let me out at nine at night?
Brendan: Yes
Me: What makes you think that
Brendan: BECAUSE I ASKED!!! :D
Me: Oh my gosh
Brendan: I don't want you to be stuck at home with the girls doing absolutely nothing
Me: Thanks :)
Brendan: You're welcome :)
Me: Thanks for using you're and not your
Brendan: No problem! Lol
Good news is that I get to get out of the house. Bad news is that it's going to be dark by nine o'clock, and I don't do well with dark woods. My dad, Amy, Helena, Kayla, Nee, and I went camping once and I had to cuddle with Kayla because I was so scared. I read creepypasta the day before and I shouldn't have. Slender Man was coming to get me!
~*Skip to that night because I don't want to write fillers*~
It's 8:55; five minutes until Brendan will come to get me. I was nervous as hell. I didn't think it was going to go well. It will be horrible! I hate it when I'm nervous. My stomach churns and it feels like I'm going to puke. Well, the best I can do is text Autumn to relieve my stress.
Me: AUTUMN!!!
Autumn: WHAT
Me: I'm scared
Autumn: About...
Me: I'm pratically going on a date with Brendan
Autumn: OMG XD
Me: I'm so nervous!
Autumn: Calm down. Breathe; not hyperventilate. Relax; think about the good side :)
Me: Thanks :) I gotta go. He'll be here any second now
Autumn: Have fun! I want every detail when you get back!!!!
I read the last text, then there's a knock on the door. I was going to answer it, but my dad does. "B! Brendan's here!" I yell back, "Just a sec!" I look myself over and put a little perfume on. I slide my phone in my pocket for emergencies and didn't grab a jacket because I already had a long-sleeve shirt on. I put on my black beanie just to add a little something to my outfit.
I walk out of my room to see my dad standing there with Brendan who's wearing a Black Veil Brides t-shirt, red skinny jeans, an oversized black hoodie, black Converse, and his beanie. (And yes, he did have his lip ring in.)
"Ready?" he asks.
"Yep! Where are we going anyway?"
"You'll see."
My dad hands me a flashlight because the flashlight on my phone isn't that bright. "Text me when you get there." I nod and leave with Brendan.
As we're walking down the road, Brendan decides to create a conversation. "Is this what all the guys do to you?"
"What do you mean?" I reply.
"Try to kiss you multiple times? Take you on a date unexpectedly?"
"I've never been almost kissed. I've never been on a date. I've never felt like this before."
"What do you mean by you 'never felt like this'?"
"I've never been treated like the way you treat me. The guys at our school think I'm a minority because I'm short and I like different music than them. The guys who do like the same music think I'm doing it just to get attention."
"I don't think you listen to good music because you want to get attention. You listen to rock and alternative music because you love it. And just because you're short doesn't make you a minority. Most kids at our school are tall, especially that Kevin Hollis guy. I don't think you're a minority, a fake, or even 'emo,' I think you're beautiful. You coming into my life was literally the best thing that has ever happened to me."
I was shocked. "Brendan, I don't know what to say." He giggles a little then says, "You don't have to say anything."
We arrive at the fence and jump over it as always. As we're walking to "our spot," Brendan grabs my hand and intertwines our fingers. I could feel my inner fangirl wanting to jump out and scream.
Brendan and I get to the spot by the creek. I look around to see that nothing was touched from the last time we were there. We sit, talked dirt about people at our school, and laugh until he brings up a topic that is very serious. "Brianna, well, BB, remember when I said you coming into my life was the best thing that has ever happened to me?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Well, there's another reason why my family moved here."
"What is it?"
He hesitates, then says, "You wouldn't understand."
"Brendan, you can tell me anything. I'll hear you out."
He starts to tear up. "I was...suicidal."
"What?"
"My brother...died in a car accident. People at my old school told me to go kill myself and 'cut my emo wrists.' I went home and found one of my mom's razors. I slit up and down my arms and legs, and even cut my chest a couple times. My parents luckily found me in time and took me to therapy the next day." He stops for a second, then quickly continues. "My peers continued to taunt me, so we had to move. When I met you, Autumn, Hannah...everything changed. You saved my life."
"I didn't save your life, you saved yourself."
I couldn't do anything except hug him. He started to cry again, but I tried my best to calm him down. "It'll be okay. I promise."
A big clash of thunder breaks our embrace. "We better head back," he said. I nod then we run.
We get to the fence when we feel raindrops come down on us. As we're walking down the road, it starts to pour down rain, which makes us start sprinting.
When Brendan and I get to my house, he stops me at the sidewalk. "Thank you," he says. He pushes the wet hair out of my face, leans in, and I do the same.
Our lips were literally two centimeters from touching when Helena walks out of the house and says, "B! Come inside! Brendan, I'm taking you home." I nod and walk inside without saying goodbye.
~~~
Helena comes back from dropping Brendan off. She walks into our room and shuts the door behind her. "You and Brendan almost kissed." Crap.
