I hesitate. "Um...we almost kissed a few times actually." Helena didn't say anything. She just walked out. Literally.
My heart dropped to my stomach and my face went pale. This was not going to be good.
Helena's P.O.V.
I walk into Kayla's room where her and Nee were sitting watching TV. "Can you guys come into the family room real quick?" I ask. Kayla replies, "Why?" I answer quickly with, "For a 'Come to Jesus Meeting'!"
Us three girls walk into our big family room where Mom and Brian were watching an old Star Wars movie. Brian pauses the movie. "What's up?" I hesitate then ask them, "Okay, so you guys know how B and Brendan have been hanging out together lately?"
They all nod and I continue. "I saw them almost kiss."
Brian: "Whoa, what?!"
Me: "Yeah. B said they almost kissed a couple times."
Kayla: "I saw them almost kiss at the lake when they were out in the rec room. They were dancing together to some Nickelback song."
Brian: "So they're hanging out to be together, eh?"
Nee: "They're hanging out because they're friends."
Everyone went bizarre while Mom was sitting there silent. Out of nowhere she yells, "Enough! Enough! They just went on a date tonight, so what's the big deal? You girls need to stay out of this because if they do get together, you guys will eat her out alive by doing God-knows-what. Brian, I would just face the fact your daughters are going to get boyfriends. It's inevitable! That's all I have to say."
She finishes and we just look at each other. This is when B would say, "Point for Amy!" But she's right; we should let B and Brendan be together without getting in their way.
Brendan's P.O.V.
~*back to when Helena just dropped him off*~
"Thanks for bringing me home," I said to Helena. There was no "You're welcome," just a nonchalant, "Get out of my car." I opened the passenger side door and stepped out. Helena zoomed off without saying anything else.
I walk into my house and my parents are sitting in the living room watching I-don't-know-what. "How'd it go?" my mom asked. I keep walking and answer, "It went good."
I walk upstairs and into my bedroom. I take off my jacket and hang it on my closet door. I look at my desk and see the blade from taken-apart pencil sharpener covered in dry blood. My arms were almost healed, so were my legs. My stomach and chest are the only places I can hide my scars.
I lift up my shirt and think to myself.
Tonight was our night until Helena had to see. One slide across my stomach.
She almost had her first kiss, but it was ruined. Another cut.
Tonight was great, but was ruined. Then another, then another, then another.
I put the blade back on my desk. I put my shirt down and throw my head back against the wall. I let a tear escape, then another, then another. Then it turned into sobs. Yes Michelle, I do listen to the "emo" bands BB does. Yes Dakota, I do wear jeans to hide my scars. And yes Ally, I do cut. My deadly habit was coming back and might be here to stay.
