~Jump to Thanksgiving Day, 2014~

I wake up at ten in the morning to help get things ready for the Thanksgiving dinner we were having later. We were having Amy's and also my dad's family coming over, so the house will be crowded. Later that day, my sister and I would be going with my mom to our great-uncle's house, which was in Madison. I invited Brendan to come because my mom's side never met him. I would have to talk to my mom, but I don't think she would care.

Me: Hey Momma! So I have this friend. He has met Daddy and Amy's family, so I was wondering if he could meet your family...

Mom: Sure! Do you want me to pick him up on the way to Uncle Ron's?

Me: Yeah. Btw his name is Brendan

Mom: I'll make note of that!!!!

Everybody arrives, and we eat. It was just the average Thanksgiving: eating and talking to family.

My mom comes to get me and my sister to go to her side of the family. "Hey girls!" she greets. We reply our heys and she said, "Show me where this kid lives." We drive down the road to Brendan lives and pick him up. He hops in my mom's car and we drive to my great-uncle's house.

I had to tell my mom that my dad asked him a bunch of uncomfortable questions in the car on the way to the lake. "Don't worry, Brendan," my mom said. "I'm not like that." I could tell he felt awkward.

Once he gets to know my mom, he won't feel awkward.

We arrive at my great-uncle's house and get out of the car.

We all walk inside the house and say hi to everyone. I had to introduce Brendan, tell a little bit about him, and three people asked if he was my boyfriend. I answered no to all of them because he isn't. I couldn't lie to my family. Other people didn't believe he was fifteen, but he was. Surprise!

After we ate, people were downstairs playing Phase 10, while Brendan and I helped my great-aunt Pam clean up. As we're cleaning, Aunt Pam decided to create a conversation. "So how long has it been since you guys have known each other?"

I thought for a second, then answered. "Almost five weeks."

Brendan asked in disbelief, "Has it really been five weeks?"

Me: "It will be on Monday."

Aunt Pam: "Wow. You two aren't together?"

Me: "We're not."

Brendan: "Yeah, we're not."

As we're finishing up, I told them, "I have to use the bathroom real quick. I'll be right back." I walk through the small hallway and walk into the bathroom.

Brendan's P.O.V.

Brianna's great-aunt and I are sitting at the island in silence. (I was sitting at the bar and she was on the opposite end standing.) Pam brought up a conversation to break the silence. "Wanting to take her out sometime?"

I laughed a little and answered with, "I'm thinking about it. I just don't know where to take her."

She suggests, "First date, so why not take her to the movies?"

"Nah. She doesn't like how a box of Skittles is four bucks and a ticket is eight."

"Well, I was guessing you would pay."

"She doesn't like it when I pay for things. We were going down to Amy's family's place in Kentucky and we made a pit stop. I bought her a Dr. Pepper and she almost flipped. I told her I was doing things the friendly way."

"What does she like?"

"She likes music, art, writing, reading...quiet things with the exception of music."

"Well, I do have April's number. You could text her and ask. I'm sure she would know."

"Sure!" I pull out my phone and Pam gives me her number. I immediately text her mom, April.

Me: Hey April, it's Brendan. I'm asking you what Brianna's dream date is because it's kind of an emergency.

April: She told me one day her dream date would be sitting under the stars just talking and being themselves. Then he walks her home and it pours down rain. They get to her house and he pushes the soaken wet hair out of her eyes and kisses her. :)

Me: Thank you! That's perfect! Your daughter will come home grinning like a fool (but not in the way she just lost her virginity or something)

April: Lmao! Still excited though!!!

I put my phone back in my pocket and smile. I had to think of something good and fast. I want to do something special with her before Thanksgiving break is over. Let's see, it's supposed to rain Saturday night...I'm a genius.

We leave my great-uncle's house and my mom drops Brendan off. She drops me and my sister off at our house. I wonder what Brendan and Pam talked about. I heard some muffling, so I knew they were talking, but what about? Before we left, my mom pulled me aside. "I kinda like Brendan." I giggled and said, "I kinda do, too."
