"I talked to Callie last night about the residents at Mercy West. She said they don't suck.
You're safe because of Derek. And Aria's safe because she's well rounded and Attending's love her. Izzie's safe 'cause of cancer.Alex is Bailey's new favorite.Even George would've been spared, 'cause he's Owen's guy.Cardio has been a revolving door around here, and no one's got my back." Cristina complained to Meredith who turned to her.

"So Arizona is your cover?" She asks knowing Aria had already made an impression on Robbins. She was also spending a lot of time in Peds.

"She's merger-proof. She keeps little kids alive. No one likes a dead kid.Plus, they're under anesthesia half the time. How bad can it be?" Cristina says getting off the elevator as Meredith shook her head at her friend.
~
Aria was scrubbing in since she was working on Mark's service. "Hey." Alex said looking at his girlfriend as he scrubbed in. The two hadn't seen each other all day as Aria had been in surgery with Mark.

"Hey what have we got?" She asked watching Mark and Derek as she finished scrubbing in.

"16-year-old helmeted dirt bike victim. GCS 15 reported before intubation." Alex told her as Aria nodded before heading into the O.R.
~
Mark handed his file to the nurse before turning to his resident. "All the others are freaking out about this merger what's your deal?" Mark asks while Aria rolls her eyes slightly.

"I'm the calm in the storm Dr Sloan. Also I had a very unstable upbringing so I'm calm in times like these." Aria chuckled as Mark nodded.

"Maybe that's why we get along so well. Your sister is a complete mess by the way." Mark told her as Aria nodded.

"Right the blood mishap. Do you need me to talk to her?" Aria asks looking at him.

"Nope I've already got it under control." Mark says while Aria looks at him slightly shocked.

"Wow Mark look at you being all grown up." Aria joked as Mark put his hands across his chest.

"Oh how you wound me Grey." Mark chuckled before the two headed to their next patient laughing with one another.
~
Aria was sat eating her lunch before the rest of the group of residents joined her. "Nice pin." Meredith sarcastically mumbled to Cristina as they joined Aria.

"His name's mr. Bear. He eats children."  Cristina said with a smirk.

"Not having fun in peds?" Meredith said causing Aria to look at the two of them in shock.

"You're working in peds?" Aria questioned looking at her sister and friend. "Oh you're trying to get Robbins to like you and those poor kids." She said before mumbling the last part.

"My kid wants chocolate pudding really badly. This is the last one." Cristina says taking a spoonful of the chocolate pudding.

"My triple-A got canceled. You guys got any surgeries I can get in on?" Alex asks sitting opposite Aria.

"Nope I'm rounding on Sloans patients." Aria mumbled to her boyfriend.

"No, I'm on post-ops. And she's babysitting." Meredith says looking between the couple.

"I can't stand it any longer. Can't you go to the Chief and use your dead-mommy connections to get some answers?" Cristina asks looking at the twins as Aria chuckles.

"We don't need dead mommy. We are going to be fine." Meredith says trying to reassure the group.

"So I let a crazy man escape, and he fell down a flight of stairs." Lexie says looking at the third year residents.

"Is it surgical?" Alex asks to which Aria kicks him under the table offering him a small glare.

"I don't know. I got kicked off the case. So then I went to go watch a surgery.I figured, I can't screw that up. And the second I get to the gallery, the shunt went south and starts bleeding. I left before Shepherd could blame me for it." Lexie tells them as Aria's pager goes off.

"Looks like Sloan may have a surgery after all." Aria smiled taunting her boyfriend as he pulled a face of annoyance at her.

"Hey that's not fair." Alex called out to her before Aria smiled at him sweetly and headed off to find Mark.
~
"How does this happen? Was Chen just not paying attention?" Mark asks as he works on suturing the baby's arm back on as it got severed during her delivery.

"She made a mistake." Aria mumbled to Mark as she exchanged a look with Arizona.

"Wrong time to make a mistake, with the merger." Cristina commented.

"You people need to stop with the doom and gloom merger scenarios. I just read somewhere that the hospital's revenues actually went up last quarter." Mark says to them.

"Except for elective procedures, which went down 13%." Cristina says looking at the Plastic Surgeon.

"You mean elective procedures like plastic surgeries? Now you're saying that I'm gonna get fired?" Mark questions her.

"I don't think anyone is safe." Cristina says to them.

"I'm safe." Mark says confidently causing Aria to roll her eyes.

"How can you be sure?" Cristina tries to reason before Arizona puts a stop to both of their conversation.

"We're about to reattach a baby's arm here. So we need to stop thinking about the merger and think instead about this little girl throwing a ball and holding a spoon and waving bye-bye to her parents." Arizona says to the both of them as Aria nods in agreement.
~
Meredith had called all of the residents together informing them of the emailing in which had been sent out. Luckily none of them had received the email but the relief was short lived knowing the next round would follow shortly.

Aria went to check on the baby whose arm they had reattached as Arizona stood beside her. "Is she going to be okay?" Aria asks looking at her attending.

"I think she's going to be just fine." Arizona smiled at her. "Have you thought about what area of speciality you could be interested in Dr Grey?" She asks looking at Aria.

"I have but I'm not convinced it would be the right move for me." Aria mumbled watching the little baby.

"I think you'll make a great paediatric surgeon Dr Grey. I've got my eye out for you Grey." She said smiling before returning to her service. Aria smiled slightly at her words.

Aria had considered her area of interest in surgery. She knew that she was drawn to being a paediatric surgeon but she still had time to figure it out. But she was unsure whether she could be enough for the children. Everyone expected her to follow in Ellis footsteps to becoming a general surgeon but it didn't feel right.

Paediatric felt right but she just didn't believe she could do it. She believed that maybe she had too much in her way from her own childhood to help others. But she couldn't have thought more wrong and she would work that out herself soon enough.
