Lexie glanced at Derek, realizing that the girl claiming to be Mark's daughter was only a few years younger than her. Aria stood beside Arizona, listening intently to the conversation unfolding.

Derek, always quick with his words, couldn't help but make a snarky remark, suggesting that Mark might have a whole bunch of potential children out there due to his past reputation. Aria shot him a glare, clearly not amused.

Arizona, not one to tolerate any meanness, promptly called Derek out on his comment. Frustrated with the situation, Derek expressed his inability to access the necessary tools for the procedure.

Aria, concerned, asked what that meant for the patient. Derek explained that he could perform a temporary fix, but it wouldn't be a permanent solution. Once the bleeding started again, there would be nothing they could do to save him.

Lexie, shocked by the grim reality, questioned whether they were just going to send the boy home to die. The tension in the room was palpable, and Arizona muttered a somber remark about Thanksgiving, exchanging knowing looks with her fellow surgeons.

Aria carefully placed the ornaments on the Christmas tree, which she had convinced Alex to go pick up. As she worked, Meredith and Derek walked into the living room, giving each other a quick look before Meredith spoke up.

"Hey, you already decorated?" Meredith asked, sounding a bit confused.

"Well, Christmas is just a week away, and the house was looking kinda empty," Aria shrugged, turning to Alex who was busy decorating the rest of the room.

"We always decorate together," Meredith said, a hint of annoyance in her voice.

"Yeah, I know but you've been busy with the chief and I figured you and Derek might want to do something different this year. You know your first year married and all, right?" Aria replied, shrugging her shoulders before placing the next few of the ornaments onto the tree.

"You could've asked me." Meredith said raising her voice slightly as Aria looked at her older sister.

"I'm sorry I didn't know it meant so much to you. But you've barely been around lately so I thought you weren't so bothered." Aria explained while Meredith shook her head heading upstairs with Derek following behind her. Alex and Aria exchanged a look before returning back to decorating the house.

"What are you doing?" Alex asked sitting beside Aria who looked up at the sky in the back garden.

"Wishing on a shooting star." Aria replied a small smile on her face while she looked up at the stars.

"Why? Think it might come true?" Alex questioned her causing aria to look at him and roll her eyes.

"I figured I've had enough bad luck for one lifetime. I figured maybe something good might come." Aria said causing Alex to smile at her before passing her a bottle of beer.

"Do you want to talk about something?" He asks sitting beside her while Aria takes a sip of her beer looking up at the sky.

"Not really." Aria mumbled resting her head on his shoulder while Alex leaned his head against hers.

"Then we'll just sit here waiting for the world to change." Alex replied sarcastically while Aria chuckled softly nudging him in the side.

"You are a complete ass Alex Karev." Aria smiled her eyes tracing every detail of his face almost as if she was holding on to the image of him. It was as if she was scared he would just simply disappear.

"You're the one dating me." Alex replied smirking while Aria rolling her eyes. She nuzzled herself deeper into his neck finding comfort in his warmth. The two of them sat enjoying the other company with an occasional laugh escaping the young couple.

Christmas Day...
Aria stood talking with Mark before Derek walked over to the both of them. The three watched on while Lexie and Sloan continued bickering like a couple of teenagers.

"Mark...your kids are bickering." Derek says while both he and Aria start laughing causing Mark glares at the pair of them.

"Have you talked to her yet?" Aria asks him as he looks over at Sloan and Lexie who were still arguing.

"I'm workin' on it." Mark says as he walks away from Derek. Aria exchanged a look with her brother in law before heading into the kitchen to check on the food. She walked in finding Meredith and Thatcher smiling with one another.

Meredith stiffened slightly at the sight of her sister while Thatcher watched the interaction between his twin daughters. "I'm going to go see Lexie." He said getting ready to dismiss himself from the kitchen.

"Don't stop on my behalf I just came to get another bottle." Aria offered a small smile grabbing a bottle of wine from the side as she headed back into the front room.

New Year's Eve
Aria stood beside Arizona watching the screen as Derek finished placing the last clip to prevent any further bleeding. "Oh, my god!" Arizona let out a happy sigh causing the rest of the surgeons to smile in delight.

"Ladies and gentlemen,we're done here." Derek informed them while Mark smiled at him

"Nice work. Beautiful." Mark complimented watching his best friend.

"Oh, my god. You did it.Amazing." Meredith and Lexie compliment hugging one another and looking at their significant other's while Aria clapped proudly.

"Hang on. Look at the clock." Aria announced catching her eye on the time while the rest of the team looked as well.

"And that's, uh, seven, six...Five, four...Three, two, one." They all counted down before turning to one another. "Happy new year!" They exchanged greeting before hugging each other celebrating the new year together.

New Year's Day
Aria laid in bed trying to find something to watch on her tv before Alex walked in holding up the box of pizza and bottles of beer. "Have I told you how much I love you." Aria quipped smiling at her boyfriend who climbed in bed beside her handing her a bottle of beer.

"Best way to start a year." Alex mumbled with a large mouthful of pizza before Aria hit him.

"Don't talk with your mouthful it's disgusting." Aria reprimanded him pulling a face of disgust before the couple enjoyed their makeshift date kicking off the new year.
