To Miles, words were just words, all of his parents' orders could be ignored. He always went to his uncle's whether they liked it or not and they never caught him in the act.
To top it off, lately he started hiding a whole new secret, one that would have caused an even worse reaction. He figured he had already stepped over the edge of the unspeakable, so he wondered what one more secret outing was going to do.
Despite having already tried that shortly after he was bitten, he attempted once again to search for his uncle in his apartment, hoping that he had moved back in there.
When he opened the door, he wasn't exactly surprised but moreso disappointed by the fact that it was identical to the last time he went there. All furniture was still missing as well as all devices and personal belongings. It seemed like they could have sold that place if anyone was ever interested in that area.
Miles heard steps coming from another room but not the buzzing of his sixth sense so he believed it would have been preferable to play it straight with whoever was in the house.
"Hey, I was just looking for my uncle and... uncle Aaron!"
There he was, yet it looked like he didn't take anything along with him but rather, as he would tell Miles, he was searching for something in his old property.
"What? Something important?"
"Not really but it's still mine and it's a useful little thing."
He descended to his knees and started searching the dusty white wall. Once he touched the pavement he felt something with his thumb and he searched that spot to check that he wasn't imagining things.
"There it is. See, big man? This little thing is a camera. I can attach it anywhere."
Miles was allowed to look at it up close and his curiosity ran wild. "So cool! But it's so small. What kind of batteries does it run on?"
Instead of talking to Miles about their shared interests, Aaron thought it was for the best to put his little gadget aside and have a serious discussion with his nephew. "So, your dad must have talked to you when I left."
"Yeah."
"What did he tell you?"
"He said that you... were in bad circles. That's all he said."
"Of course. He always was the kind of guy to keep a secret but he has some of them, too. We all do, don't we?"
Aaron placed his hand on his nephew's shoulder and looked him in the eyes. He was noticeably calm, Miles on the other hand wasn't. A weird thought crossed his mind but he figured it was just paranoia and pushed it aside.
"Yeah. That's right." he finally replied
Aaron had an idea at that moment and took his hand away before sharing it with Miles: "How about we spend the day together? Like old times."
"Sure, just like old times! I'd love to." His smile confirmed that.
"Let's leave this place, then. I've got everything we need on me."
Miles followed his uncle out of the apartment to go to a place where they could be left alone.

Together, they were walking on the sidewalk, each with a popsicle in their hand. Miles seemed to enjoy his orange one whereas Aaron didn't seem to like his green one as much. Wondering whether that was because he considered himself too old for a popsicle, Miles asked him: "Is something wrong?"
