Expectations Part Two

When Kitty was forced to run away she was enraged at her mother, believing that she wasn't entirely by her side, convinced that believing in just half of her cause wasn't good enough.

It took her living a year on her own to understand that she had taken her for granted. Even if they didn't agree on everything she still loved her unconditionally, as she always tried to tell her.

She made her life better in subtle ways she only noticed when she was no longer around. It was good to be with her again along with those commodities she could now appreciate much more, including the menorah placed in the living room.

Unlike Kitty, this was the first time Jimmy had ever met the woman but he was already a big fan of her knowing that she raised her daughter on her own. She lived up to his expectations and even reminded him of his own mother, or at least the one that stepped up and raised him.

She had greeted them both warmly, predictably showing more love to her little girl and after a modest lunch together they sat in the living room.

"It's nice to finally meet you" said Kate's mum, "especially after finding out you two were... well..."

"Sorry Ms Pryde but I have to stop you right there." replied Jimmy, sat next to her, "I already broke your daughter's heart."

Kitty scoffed and said: "More like the other way around."

"Alright... I admit, it went the other way around."

"That's too bad! Why, though, Kitty?" she asked, not exactly disappointed but rather simply intrigued

"You don't want to know, mum."

"Yeah, you really don't. It's a touchy subject."

"Knowing my Kitty, it's probably because you didn't see eye to eye on something." she said as she took a plate off the table and carried it to the kitchen.

"Mum!" she said embarassed while Jimmy was instead left astounded by her deductiveness.

The lady opened a pedal bin and took out a little bag. Kitty promptly ran over to the kitchen and took the trash bag out of her hand.

"Let me do it." she said.

"Really? You've changed, girl..."

She ignored the last remark and walked outside with the bag in hand, just to do her mum a favour. Opening the trash can outside and putting the plastic bag in wasn't much of an effort for her.

"Hey! Kitty!"

Just when she thought that everything could go back to normal, she heard the voices of strangers fuse into a confused mess of a noise.

She could fight anything head on but, when surrounded by those spies, creeps and perverts even she couldn't help but freeze in place as the disrespectful bunch of paparazzi barraged her with questions she had heard far too often.

"Kitty! What's—- oh crap...!" shouted Jimmy who just walked out to see what all the commotion was about

When he was seen, Kitty heard brand new questions that managed to enrage her even more than the ones she was used to hearing.

"Who's that? Your boyfriend?!" said one of the nosy kids, making her blush in embarassment

"He looks familiar!" said another while Jimmy hid back inside

"I think you have a type: short, buff and hairy. Am I right or what?" exclaimed the most twisted of all the perverts. Just thinking about what he was implying made her sick, his stupid insufferable face made her blood boil.
