Radioactive Spider Blood Part Three

In the Upper New York Bay, humankind used its deductive thinking and industrial power to give Governors Island a nearby "companion". Indeed, they created a brand new, artificial island to house a building that had perhaps surpassed even the Pentagon in importance, and only a few kilometers away from the most important, and most chaotic, city in North America.

It was named Triskelion, after one of the oldest symbols known to humanity. A fitting name since, if you looked at it from above, you'd see that the three wings branching from the main skyscraper resemble spirals.

Even though it didn't bring much beauty to the scenery, it certainly held a lot of importance. It was no ordinary office building, rather something much more unique; something absolutely necessary or horrible depending on who you asked. It was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s main base of operation. In other words the headquarters of all pseudo-military personnels and also the various super beings that work with them. Some even lived there, since they had nowhere else to go.

After discovering its purpose, one may understand why not everyone was a fan of this place: some believed that it was a symbol of supremacy and in many ways they were right. Others would instead claim that it was completely good, seeing as New York City was for some reason the center stage of most threats to the whole world; they'd argue that S.H.I.E.L.D. had to be as close as possible to the city, apparently destined to be involved in any crisis, in order to intervene as quickly as possible. It can't be denied that this group also had a point.

Regardless of your opinion on the subject, the Triskelion has seen a lot, always being the target of many super villain attacks and of many subsequent maintenance works. The most unbelievable fact was that it wasn't even one of a kind, for there was a second, almost identical Triskelion on the other side of the planet. Funnily enough, the one which was furthest away from New York as possible was actually the older "brother" of the two.
"How does that make any sense? Why would they build the first one somewhere in the desert and then build the second one where it was actually needed?"
It's a long story that deals with blood-suckers and wannabe mythical hammers. A story we should talk about some other time because we're here for someone else

Spider-Woman was web swinging around the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters one day as a form of exercise, very much needed after sleeping so badly the previous night.

At a glance it would seem that she was enjoying it, seeing how effortlessly she moved around; the way she shot webs out of her fingertips seemed almost instinctive. Truth was, her attempts at forgetting the nightmare she had a couple hours earlier were utterly useless. She was trying her best, it was the whole reason why she left her room so early in the first place, but those thoughts simply wouldn't leave her mind. Still, Jessica did her best not to have anyone notice her bad mood, her mask helped a ton since it completely hid her facial expressions, she only needed to control her voice and posture in order to not concern others.

Along the way she saw the Giant-Men on morning guarding duty. They waved at her, indirectly grabbing everyone's attention. It wasn't their fault, when you're more than 18 meters tall, it's virtually impossible to move discretely and anyone would quickly turn around if they noticed the goliaths moving so quickly despite their size. Jessica definitely didn't want to be in their shoes, if there was one thing she hated it was staring. Actually, perhaps we're being a little generous, there were plenty of things she hated, staring and unwanted attention were only two of them.

While trying her best to think of anything that had nothing to do with her bad dreams, she remembered a comic book she read once.
In said story one of the characters, who was supposed to be a "normal" person, performed something ludicrously difficult: a quadruple somersault. Exactly what it sounded like, spinning a grand total of four times while in mid air. Since Jessica always was a fan of that character and she had spider-like agility that surpassed anyone else's, she decided to give it a try.
