I would like to tell you to imagine an abandoned hotel but I'm afraid that description won't be accurate enough. Many things that seem abandoned at a first glance really aren't.
Inside the empty shell of a hotel, a slimy vengeful plot was being run by the living dead which recruited several individuals to his cause. His henchmen guarded the entrances and every room, some were specialised to certain tasks like managing the electronic security.
Unbeknownst to them all except a few unfortunate guards, the security of one entrance was stealthily cleared, a breach had been made. Intruders were sneaking inside the base and they didn't have a chance of seeing them since they could evade eyesight without breaking a sweat. Some could turn invisible, others hid in the shadows while one walked inside their walls.
They would make their presence known only to a single room.
A shining girl threw three light daggers that only incapacitated the same amount of guards for good. Another saw her but, before he could act, he and his companion were covered in a black mantle and asphyxiated, plus something worse.
Two fell to the floor after they inexplicably felt someone pinch them on the neck when they didn't see anyone at all. A third man, standing next to them saw a boy in a black uniform materialise above them and kick him.
One of the intruders punched a guard but rather than a normal punch it felt like being hit by a metal bat. In the meantime two gunmen closeby sank into the floor as a pair of hands grabbed them.
The last three noticed what was happening and gathered up but then two of them were snatched away by web strings and dragged to the ceiling and the third ran towards a monitor. Before he could use it to contact anyone, a brunette girl emerged from the floor and put him in a chokehold. Held tight against his will, with his airways blocked, he quickly ran out of air and fainted.
"Who taught you how to do that?" asked Jimmy as he saw Kitty dropping the guard on the floor.
"Your dad." she replied, with a smirk.
"Heh, of course he did. Pretty cool."
"Yeah, I gotta admit, that was pretty cool." said Lana, sitting on a chair next to the monitor the guard was reaching for.
"And what did you do?" wondered Miles, seeing how calm she was as she chewed her pink gum.
"You said we had to be quiet but my powers aren't exactly that, so..."
Miles scoffed and said: "Whatever, your time will come, sooner or later..."
And she giggled and closed her eyes when she replied: "Then I'll teach them a lesson they won't forget!"
While they were talking, Spider-Woman walked over to Lana and patted her on her back and she turned to her wondering what she wanted.
"Move, chica." she said, inciting her to give up her seat
So she reluctantly stood up, secretly wondering why she couldn't just grab another chair as she was about to do now, away from the monitor where Jessica was now working.
She figured that if she discovered in which room Monica was being held, she could just tell Ty the coordinates and they wouldn't need to sneak around the building like some boring metroidvania... not that they were boring, she actually liked them, it's just that playing and living them are two different experiences...
"Hey, Ms Pryde?" whispered Miles, all shy.
"Call me Kitty, please! I can't be that much older than you." she said and then laughed to herself.
"Right, sorry... it's just weird because you're important and all... Kitty, can I ask you something?" he said, still keeping his voice low.
"Sure."
