Lando's POV
I nod to Liam and he sprints off.
I swear Liam better hurt that dickwad.
"Come on Lacy we're done here." But she doesn't budge.
She's focused on the floor not moving.
"Lacy?" I say concerned.
"Lando I'm scared." She whispers.
"What?" I say confused.
"Lando I'm lightheaded, my nose is aching, I know Dan is still here, Liam just went off to find him so don't even lie to me."
I look at her shocked.
"Lando he's still here. He's still here. He can still hurt me Lando I'm scared."
"Lacy I'm right here I promise he won't hurt you."
She tries to take a step forward but it's all overwhelming for her.
"Is it ok if I pick you up? We'll get to the medic faster if that's alright?"
She nods.
I pick her up bridal style and as we pass by the hallway she buries her head in the crook of my shoulder and whispers, "Lando he can't see me with you."
"What why?"
"He just can't ok please if he's here hide me."
"Don't worry he's no where in sight." I say as we enter the med office.
I set her down on the med bench.
A doctor comes to assess her and as I'm about to leave she grabs onto my arm with desperation in her eyes.
She's subtly trying to tell me to stay. So of course, I stay.
"Well Lacy I'm going to assume you've got a broken nose there." He says as he somehow finally gets the bleeding to stop.
"And you lost a lot of blood so we're going to have to keep you here to monitor that for you alright?"
I swear if Sarah hadn't stopped her we would've made it faster.
She would've been ok.
I look out the window of the med office and notice Liam standing out there subtly motioning for me to come out.
"Alright Lando I'm just going to do a few assessments on her so if you don't mind taking a step out for a few minutes we'll want to do an xray." The doctor explains.
Lacy gives me a slight nod and a smile.
"Are you sure?" I say.
"I'll be alright don't worry." She says softly.
I race out the door and notice Liam's got a bruised lip but that's about it.
"Well I expected you to look worse." I say to him.
"Not my first time." Liam says nonchalantly.
"Wait what?" I say shaking my head confused.
"Lando she's been with this ass for three years he's done a lot of things to her."
"Wait he's hit her before?" I say concerned.
"No this is the first time I've ever seen that but he's done other stupid shit like one time he kicked Lacy out of his house. I don't know why but she had to walk an hour to get back to her house alone. At night."
Seriously. Why is she with him?
"He's cheated on her, he's lied to her, he's pretended to be someone I don't even think he himself believes to be."
"Cheated on her?"
"Yea let's just say he doesn't handle his alcohol well so he gets flirtatious." Liam rolls his eyes.
"Why is she with him if he treats her like that?"
Liam pauses thinking to himself.
"You ever seen that movie Perks of being a Wallflower?" Liam asks me.
"I have actually."
"Alright well side note it's Lacy's favourite movie. But there's one line that says 'we accept the love we think we deserve.' That's why she's with him."
I don't even reply.
"She's never experienced what it's like to be cared about. Her father's just like Dan. Complete ass so this is normal to Lacy."
"I want her to know that she deserves more love than she thinks though."
"So do I Lando I've been trying for years but she's a tough one to crack."
I never knew any of this about Lacy. She's so bubbly that you would never expect any of this from her.
"But Lando after seeing that whole situation, she's scared. Like very scared. I've never seen so much fear in that girl, but you made her feel safe. She's only going to need more protection as the season goes on. I have a feeling the world isn't going to appreciate having a female driver, which is so stupid but that's the way it goes."
"No I completely agree."
"Look out for her will you mate?" Liam asks before turning around to leave.
"Yes of course. And try to heal up that lip Lacy will be concerned."
"Don't worry if she were to see Dan she'd be even more concerned as to what the hell happened."
I smile knowing that Dan got what he deserved.
I peer back into the doctor's office and notice Lacy fast asleep on the bed.
I know she won't want to be alone so I decide to stay in the room with her so she'll have someone by her side when she wakes up.
The team doctor walks in saying, "yea it's broken Lando but it's all taped up. She lost a lot of blood though Lando I'm just hoping she gets replenished before the race. Would hate for her to miss her debut."
"How long do you think she's going to have to stay in here?" I ask the doctor noticing the bruising that's spread to Lacy's eyes.
"As long as she needs Lando. But she'll be fine here, so don't feel as if you have to stay." The doctor mentions.
"No don't worry I'll stay it's alright."
"Suite yourself." The team doctor says before leaving.
How could Dan hurt someone who's so kind and gentle. Everything about her is gentle, her voice, her smile, her laughter, her touch.
I hope Liam's wrong and that the world isn't too cruel to her.
