Not What I Imagined

Lacy's POV

It was worse this time.

It felt worse.

It looked worse.

I also probably looked worse.

The barrier couldn't have collided into my car fast enough.

All I needed was to get out of that car before it became an erupting inferno.

All that surrounded me were concerned doctors and some of my fellow drivers.

I saw Lando.

He was there, he looked so scared.

Liam was there but he stayed at the corner of the room.

Then everyone started to leave.

I wanted to call after them but I felt too weak.

My voice too horse.

Where was everyone going?

What were they all looking at?

Until it occurred to me, who were they looking at?

In came a scruffy looking man with salt and pepper hair.

Short stubble on his face and a bunch of tattoos gliding up his arms.

I furrow my brows to try and see him in a clearer view.

"How's my little Lacy?"

I wanted to throw up.

I wanted to slap him across the face.

But I also at the same time wanted to hug him.

But I could also punch him in the stomach right about now.

"Dad?" I said like I was five years old again.

————————————————

My first home race!

I really wanted to do well today. It was my home crowd after all.

Stepping out in front of hundreds of Canadians is a surreal experience for me.

I actually see people wearing my merch which is just insane.

Lance and I lineup beside eachother for the national anthem to play as we are situated I front of all of the other drivers.

I peek my head back and I notice Liam and Lando give me a thumbs up.

Max gives me a little wink and a slight smile.

This is exactly what I had been dreaming of for so long.

I really wish my dad was here with me.

Although I'm twenty-two years old I'm still just a little girl who yearns for her father.

Didn't help that Lance's dad was standing off to the side giving his son a proud smile.

I've got myself. That's all I need for this race which is all that matters right now.

Walking back to the garage I'm feeling a bit anxious about my car situation.

Prior to today's race I had Felix, my personal favourite engineer, do a once over of my car just to be sure.

I suit up and place my custom helmet on specifically for today's race.

It's a diamond theme in honour of my Dior shoot that was happening here.
