I didn't move.
I sat my ass down in that tiny foldable chair for hours until everyone showed up to the garage for quali.
Hayden would sit with me and then he'd tour around and then he'd come back again.
Every once in a while I would notice Tom peering in to see if I was still there; of course I hadn't moved.
If I needed to go to the bathroom I told Hayden to just sit and make sure no one made changes on the car without me being here and that it's some kind of driver protocol.
Of course he obeyed and didn't bat an eye.
"Let me guess, you've been here all morning?" I hear a familiar British accent enter the garage.
"What makes you think that?" I say without turning my head from the car.
"Your lips aren't glossy anymore. Usually in the mornings after you've just done your makeup your lips are all glossy, but as the day goes on you never reapply because you're afraid you'll lose your pride and joy; your lipgloss."
"Jeez maybe you should be my lawyer Lan."
"Don't worry we'll find you someone good for the summer."
Hayden came waltzing in from one of his numerous tour around the paddock, "Lando! Hey mate it's good to see you."
"Yea you as well." Lando says reaching out for a friendly hand shake.
And to think I've been held by both of those sets of hands.
Both of those hands wrapped around me, making me feel so protected.
Wow aren't I scandalous.
Lando gave me a quick look that said we'll talk later, before he left to get suited up for quali.
Within maybe thirty seconds I could hear the smooth rhythm of money trees bounce through the walls of the McLaren garage as Lando went to get suited up.
Hayden was humming along to Kendrick's iconic beat as I decided it would be safe enough for me to get ready.
"Watch the car Hayden." Is all I say before I head to my dressing room to get changed.

About half way through qualifying I thought to myself, what if Hayden sabotaged my car too? Honestly can't trust anyone these days.
But I quickly cleared those thoughts because my car was flying.
I'd never felt so much control over the car.
Clocking into Q3 I had set a fast pace for myself.
The car felt good, I felt good.
The roar of my cars engine still wasn't loud enough to drown out the absolute silence that was between Tom and I over our radio.
There were barely any words communicated between us, only the necessary sentences to not make things seem suspicious.
This is it.
This is what I had been putting all of my long hours into.
This is what I worked my whole childhood for and it was finally all going to pay off.
I pushed through every single corner and made every lap count, especially my last one.
With only 2 minutes left, these drivers are going to have to push to fit in one last lap of qualifying to determine their spot for tomorrow's grid.
