The Adventures of IceT and Limon (A Chikin Nuggit OC Fanfiction)

Chapter 14: The Gift

(3rd Person POV) 

Synopsis: Spotted by IceT, Chikin gets to spend time with her in the garden before receiving a gift.

                  The sudden noise IceT heard behind her was enough to make the mouse whip her head around in surprise. Upon doing so, she saw and recognized the fuzzy body of a yellow dog facedown in the grass.

"Chikin! What are you doing here?" IceT asked with a small smile on her face as she went to put down her project and help him up. It didn't go unnoticed by Chikin, which caused a blush of heated embarrassment on his face.

"O-Oh! I was, uh - I was...ummm..." Was all Chikin could muster as he started into IceT's warm and inviting gaze. "Have her eyes always been that pretty?"

"You must be a little dizzy from that faceplant," IceT thought aloud, holding him up by wrapping her arm around his back. "How about you sit down for a minute? I found these adorable frogs in the pond here, I'm sure you'll love them!"

IceT brang the dog close to the pond's edge, sitting beside him as the frogs mentioned decided to approach the two of them.

"Aren't they just the cutest?" IceT cooed as she watched the amphibians with great interest. "Back in my old town, we never had a lot of ponds like these. It's nice to really be able to enjoy these creatures as they are."

"Yeah," Chikin replied, smiling at her engrossment with the frogs. "These little guys have done a lot for me. They're always there whenever I'm having a bad day or if I need someone to talk to. Frogs are just simply the best," The dog stated as an amphibian hopped close to him.

Chikin extended his paw out so the frog could leap onto it. He then brought it close to IceT, who marveled at how calm this creature was with Chikin.

"I visit this place every now and then, so these guys know me. If you do the same, they'll get used to you too. M-Maybe we could come here together?...." Chikin offered, cheeks rapidly blushing all over again. "Come on Chikin, pull yourself together!"

"That doesn't seem like a bad idea," IceT contemplated as she gestured to take the frog into her paws, which Chikin allowed her to do without a second thought. "I might be busy most of the time, but seeing these little leapers with you sounds great!"

"She said seeing these little leapers with me sounds great."

Chikin couldn't conceal the innocent smile that spread across his face while IceT continued to pet and swoon over the frog in her paws.

A minute passed before IceT set the frog back down and picked up her crochet needles to finish her project. "I've been working on it for a while now, but maybe I'll be able to finish it today if I work fast enough," The mouse explained as she quickly got to work.

As the day passed, Chikin watched IceT work with dedication and focus as they had plenty of conversations, whether it was about their friends or other hobbies. Turns out, they both seemed to generally know the same people like Iscream, Sody Pop and Cofi as well.

"Hold on! You're telling me Iscream and that wish dragon were dating?! How'd I not see it before?"

"Don't worry, it's not always obvious at first!" Chikin told her before giggling at the outburst.

He even managed to make her laugh with a few of his tales concerning him and Cheezborger, which Chikin found quite melodious to his ears.

Before the sun set, IceT had finished her project: A purple, amigurumi octopus with short arms, cute button eyes and a stitched smile.

"It looks beautiful, IceT!" Chikin complimented, the mouse blushing as she turned her creation around, observing all angles. "Well, I want you to have it."

"Wait, what?"

"I want you to have it," IceT repeated as she offered the crocheted octopus to him. "I'm not really sure if I want something as special as this to be sold at Crafty Corner. It's not bad, I'd just rather you have it."

"But don't you need these so you can sell stuff there?"

IceT laughed for a moment before answering him. "Oh Chikin! Did you think I was the only one making everything at Crafty Corner?"

"...Maybe," He confessed, hiding his blushing face with his long ears.

"Well, how it works is that although I let people buy what I create, other people and companies who sell similar products like mine pay me and Limon to advertise them at our store. Dealing with the technical stuff is more Limon's job, but mine is taking care of sales to make sure what we're selling gets sold to make enough profit for everyone."

"In short, no one's gonna mind if I give this to you," IceT concluded as she handed the octopus to Chikin, moving his ears from his face as he blushed once more.

"I'm sure you'll take care of it, won't you?" IceT queried, standing up with her satchel in tow.

"I will," Chikin spoke quietly, unable to speak any louder as IceT smiled before walking away and leaving the garden. As soon as she was out of sight and hearing range, Chikin shoved his face into the crocheted octopus and let out a muffled scream, his feelings too much to handle.

Unknowingly to him, Chikin hadn't seen IceT leaving the garden with the faintest blush that could've been easily missed as the mouse walked onto the pavement, replaying the day's events in her head.
