(3rd Person POV)
Synopsis: IceT learns about Slushi's proposal to Limon and has some thoughts about it.
"I'm sorry, what?"
"It doesn't really sound that bad - Slushi just wants to invite us over to a sleepover she and her friends are having this weekend at her house," Limon reasoned, sitting down on the light blue, leather couch provided as she invited the mouse in front of her to do the same.
"But why ask to bring me along too? She knows you better." IceT responded, crossing her arms as she sat down next to the owl with a sigh. "Is she just inviting me out of pity?"
"Well, she seemed to like you after that one time you helped her pick out a present for one of her friends. After all, why else would Slushi leave a good review about it on our website?"
"I guess you're right, but meeting her whole friend group? At a sleepover, no less?"
"Hoo, boy," Limon exhaled, a feathery wing placed on IceT's back to rub it in soothing motions as she prepared to hear the mouse's rant.
"First of all, mixing friends isn't always a good idea: what if our differences become too much for them or us to handle?"
"Slushi said it herself how she thinks we'll get along with them based on our general personalities."
"Even if we somehow manage to like each other, there's the fact that she decided to do this at a sleepover, of all get-togethers! Limon, sleepovers are one of the most intimate things you can do with a friend! You're basically admitting to them how you go to bed at night and what you're like when you get up in the morning!"
"And why is that such a bad thing?"
"Because it's personal!" IceT stressed, fiddling with the orange bow bound to her pink tail, which was currently curled up in a spiral next to her body. "You know how I feel about being opened up and revealed like that."
"Look I know your introverted side isn't used to doing these kinds of things. Even I'm surprised I'm suggesting this, but I think this'll be good for the both of us," The owl explained as she moved the mouse closer to her side with a tender smile.
"Other than our co-workers and usual acquaintances, we don't really know a lot of people in this town. If we're planning to genuinely make this our home, it makes sense that we should get to know the locals here, right?"
A sigh leaving her, IceT then got up from the leather couch and faced her feathered friend.
"My good sir, you have many valid points. And maybe you're right: I don't open up as much thanks to me being my usual anxiety-gremlin self," She laughed, a placid smile on her face. "But in this case, it's the effort that counts most, right?"
"That's the spirit, IceT. Since the sleepover isn't till this Friday, we have plenty of time to prepare for whatever comes," Limon reassured as she too stood up next to the mouse. "If worse comes to worse, we'll just say that one of us isn't feeling good so that we can leave early."
"Alright, but which one of us is gonna fake it?"
"...Not it," The owl stated bluntly, putting a wing to their beak as IceT's mouth dropped in shock.
"Oh, come on! I wasn't prepared for that!" She protested, playfully launching herself onto her taller friend in an attempt to tackle her. This effort went in vain when Limon picked her up without hassle, wrapping her wings in a hug around her as the mouse spiritedly hugged back in fits of laughter.
As they both walked upstairs to prepare for bed, Limon couldn't help but notice that her friend's open bedroom door revealed several crocheted items scattered across the floor and her desk.
"Hey, IceT, you have a lot of new crafts in your room."
"Yeah, I know! I don't know how it happened, other than that I was working on one of them while you were away, only to end up with millions of these by the time I came to!"
"...What do you mean by that?" The owl asked with slight concern.
"At first, I was just crocheting another frog keychain for the overall spring theme we have going on. Then, at some point, I just kept going, but with other ideas I thought would be cool for us to try."
"By the time you came back and rang the bell, I guess I stopped what I was doing to meet you, and that was it," IceT replied with a nonchalant voice, quickly turning into one of worry. "...Is that a bad thing?"
To IceT's surprise, Limon only laughed at her response. "Oh, IceT, you probably just spaced out while doing your crochet, like you usually do when you're in the zone. You know what I'm saying?"
To the mouse, something about the time gap between starting her crocheted frog and greeting Limon when she came home felt off, to say the least. The time that passed almost felt like she was doing a real life montage that led to all the crafts currently sprawled around in her room. Despite the doubt lingering in the back of her mind, IceT managed to laugh off the strange event alongside Limon, hoping that the owl's words were true.
"Well, we oughta get some rest if we're to prepare for the weekend," The owl stated as she sauntered over to her own room to sleep for the night.
"You're right, I should stop worrying by now," IceT answered back with a small smile as she too walked to her bedroom door and went inside. "Besides, it's just a sleepover: how life-changing could it be?"
