The Adventures of IceT and Limon (A Chikin Nuggit OC Fanfiction)

Chapter 17: Newsflash - The World Stinks!

(3rd Person POV)

Synopsis: IceT and Limon get exposed to some bad news on the internet.

         IceT and Limon were together in their living room, having takeout for dinner as they sat together on their light blue, leather couch in front of their TV. The owl was handling the TV remote, switching between channels to see what there was to watch when she stopped at the news channel currently on.

"We interrupt this broadcast to announce some harrowing news," The news reporter at the camera stated as he stacked some papers in his paws before putting them aside with a solemn expression.

The news then proceeded to spend the next 10 minutes talking about dreadful events happening around the world, from missing children to sudden attacks and natural disasters that left people harmed, paralyzed or worse.

IceT and Limon watched it all with shocked faces, overwhelmed by everything being said and shown before the TV screen was abruptly closed by IceT herself.

"I really can't believe it," The mouse muttered quietly as she set down the TV remote on their wooden coffee table with a small clink. "Has the world always been this hateful?"

What IceT had witnessed on the internet wasn't anything near pleasant, and it didn't help her anxiety about the future either. "Why can't the news be nice for once and talk about wholesome stuff like people doing generous things or the miracles of nature? Are good acts really that hard to find out there?"

"...The world isn't a terrific place," Limon replied, putting her takeout on the table as IceT's pink tail curled around her small body, the orange bow she wore ruffling itself on her light brown fur.

"If anything, it might even get worse. But one thing I know for sure is that we're here and safe together, and that's enough for me," The owl said as she wrapped her brown feathered wings around IceT.

The mouse then returned the embrace as she wrapped her tail around the owl's frame, closing her eyes as she breathed a sigh of relief. "You know what? I'm glad we decided to live together."

Limon let out a short laugh in response, allowing the hug to go on for a while longer before separating to put away their leftovers. "If you want, you can grab some of your plushies and we can have a sleepover in my room."

"That sounds nice," IceT responded with a smile as she got up from the couch as well. "After the dishes, I call dibs on your egg pillows!"

"Not if I finish first!"

"Oh, you're on!"
