Chapter 26: Time Flies By When You're Having Fun!

(3rd Person POV)

Synopsis: Chikin and his friends have all kinds of fun together! C̶o̶m̶p̶l̶e̶t̶e̶l̶y̶ ̶u̶n̶a̶w̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶t̶i̶m̶e̶ ̶s̶k̶i̶p̶s̶ ̶h̶a̶p̶p̶e̶n̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶l̶a̶t̶e̶l̶y̶.̶

When the mouse was standing beside Chikin's loafed form on the magenta carpet, she spoke with hidden anxiety and nervousness laced in her tone. "...Um, hey, Chikin - Is it okay if I sit next to you? For now, at least? I wouldn't want to be a bother."

It was as if she were giving a public speech to a crowd of complete strangers, not wanting to come off as annoying or tiresome.

At the sound of her voice, his long ears perked up in elated recognition, redirecting his full attention to answer her question. "Oh, sure you can! I don't mind at all."

Chikin's furry yet tiny tail started to wag as IceT seated herself so that she was settled in the same loafing position he was in, her longer tail resting on the floor around the two of them. The movie's opening credits began on the TV's screen, and everyone attentively watched in anticipation for the movie's first scene.

From that point forward, hours then began to pass like seconds as the group moved from one activity to the next. The evening was spent in laughter and high spirits, everyone enjoying themselves in one way or another.

"What do you mean I can't take her gummy guard?" Hawt Saus interrogated, paws on his hips as his tail slowly swayed behind him. "I did everything right!"

"Those are Foodtopia's rules: You're not allowed to steal someone's guard unless they fail to answer the question on the card they picked up," Chee explained for him, reading from the board game's instructions.

"Well, in that case, I can at least swipe Slushi's waffle tower since my pawn's close enough, right?"

Glancing at the instructions, the calico cat widened her eyes as she read the rules. "Yeah, I guess you can."

Pumping his fist in the air, the squirrel then picked up his game piece and moved it inside the plastic waffle tower next to Slushi, replacing her teal flag on top with his own red one. "Ha! Only two more towers to go, and I win!"

"Don't get ahead of yourself," Cofi reminded him, looking to where hers and Limon's food themed towers were located.

"She's right - who knows?" The owl agreed with her statement. "Things have a way of turning on you when you least expect it."

As the five critters played their board game in the living room, the others were in the kitchen area stacking paper cups into large pyramids on the floor.

"Alright, we're done now," Fwench Fwy announced as they and IceT stepped back from their lofty paper cup pyramid in satisfaction. "How about you guys?"

In front of them, Iscream and Chikin stood next to their towering structure with smiles on their faces. "Yep! It's all good over here!"

"Okay, now can I do my thing?" Sody Pop butted in, wearing a colorful wrestling mask as he took on a hostile stance in between both of the pyramids set up in the room. "I've been waiting for forever!"

"Calm down, it's only been 10 minutes," The wish dragon reassured him, putting a clawed paw on their head as they sighed. "I knew I shouldn't have let Iscream give you so much candy."

As the four of them stepped back and went to the kitchen area for cover, IceT chose to ask Chikin a question concerning their current activity. "Why exactly do we need to go all the way here though? It's not like we're trying to hide from a nuclear explosion or something, right?"

"...Well-"

"That's precisely what we're doing." Fwench Fwy interrupted him with a serious tone, taking Iscream and crouching further into the kitchen island that sheltered them. Chikin and IceT did the same, the mouse wearing a worried expression as she did so.

"Okay, I'm ready!" Sody Pop announced with determination, his eyes narrowed as he braced himself for his stunt. As soon as Iscream gave him the green light with a thumbs up, the red panda then ran and went to jump just as he was about to land between the two large paper cup pyramids.

With a loud cry, Sody then touched down to the ground and proceeded to explode upon contact, blowing up everything within his line of range.

BOOM!

It's crazy to think that this is (technically) my last chapter of 2024, but I couldn't be more grateful for everyone who's read and enjoyed my fic so far! May you all have a great day/night, and I hope to see you guys next year!
