Chapter 21: Two Nerds Nerding Out

(3rd Person POV)

Synopsis: Slushy and Limon spend some time together fangirling about their favorite show, the owl unaware of the true reason she was invited.

             The sound of a doorbell rang throughout Slushi's house, catching the mint-green fox's attention with an excited expression. "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, she's actually here!"

She speed-walked towards the door and took a deep breath once she was in front of it. "Alright, Slushi, just play it cool. This is the first time she's seeing your house, so don't mess it up."

Slushi swung open the door to reveal Limon standing there with an elated appearance of her own. "Oh, hey Slushi! How're you doing?"

"I'm doing alright, but nevermind that! Are YOU ready to binge Love Slayer: The Animated Series for the next 2 hours?!"

"Heck yeah!" Limon responded with a smile on her beak, ready to abandon her quiet and reserved nature for the afternoon.

Slushi moved aside, holding the door so that the owl could enter inside her home. As she did so, she noticed that Limon had a yellow crocheted satchel with her, curious as to what its contents were.

"Oh, this? It's just stuff, like fanart I made and old theories I came up with when I was an owlet reading about Love Slayer in my local library," She informed whilst she sat herself down in the fox's living room.

The new knowledge elicited a gasp from the mint-green weeb. "How many of your theories did you get right?"

"...Around three," The owl confessed with a suave look. This caused bright stars to appear in Slushi's eyes, completely impressed by her prediction skills.

During their time together, hours flew by like seconds as they went from watching their favorite anime to exchanging fanarts and laughing at various parodies.

"Okay, I genuinely cannot believe you actually did that!"

"Come on, is it that serious that I wrote a fanfiction of five chapters just to fix Doria's abandonment issues?"

"Not if every chapter had ten thousand words!"

Soon, Limon was invited to stay for dinner to continue their geeking-out.

"Sure, why not? Let me just message IceT that I'll be home late."

The dinner they had consisted of spaghetti with tomato sauce and meatballs, a meal Limon greatly enjoyed. "I'm serious, I don't think I've had pasta this good since I came here!"

"That's really nice to hear," Slushi said with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. This confused Limon, but she dismissed it for the moment.

Once they were done, Limon offered to help clean up the dining area, which Slushi accepted with thanks as they worked in silence.

"You got something on your mind?"

"...What do you mean?" The fox asked, turning her head from where she was at the kitchen sink, washing the various dishes inside.

"I'm just saying, you've been quiet for a while now, so I assumed you were thinking about...Y'know, stuff." Limon replied, picking up the rag she used to clean the dinner table and approaching Slushi to place it on the sink nozzle.

"Actually, there's something I've been meaning to tell you." She confessed, putting the last, clean dish on the dish rack over her second sink to face Limon.

"What do you have to say?...Is it something bad?"

"No, not at all! It's just that I'm more worried about how things could change between us if I say what's on my mind."

"Well, whatever it is, I promise not to freak out or make a big deal out of it," The owl swore, putting her right wing on her heart to prove it.

"...Limon, I think you're amazing. You're into a lot of fandoms like I am, we share most of the same interests and great tastes in tropes, by the way-" Slushi took a deep inhale, closing her eyes as she put her teal paw pads together.

"I guess what I'm trying to say is...I want you to meet my friend group."
