Vivie didn't get why she was separated from the rest of the Flag Smashers, as was Ella, though Ella was over there, with some brunette lady sobbing onto her head.
She looked around the area, for any sign of her mother or Clementine or even Lilly, not that she had any clue to look out for when it came to Lilly. She heard footsteps coming and she glanced up to see her mother approaching her. She looked away.
Georgie knelt down in front of her. "Vivie?" She said gently, though, if one paid close enough attention, she sounded like she was restraining tears. The younger blonde looked away, not speaking.
"Vivie, sweetheart, I know you can hear me." The older blonde gently placed a hand against her daughter's cheek. If Vivie hadn't been cuffed, she probably would have smacked it away.
She refused to look at Georgie. She was already close enough to crying, if she looked at Georgie, it'd probably all just come spilling out.
She looked up, but not at Georgie. A little farther back was Clementine, watching the two. Vivie just as quickly looked away.
Georgie sighed, wiping her eyes. She stood and hugged her daughter. "We'll get this all sorted out, Viv," She whispered. "I promise. We'll get this all sorted out."
Vivie took in a shaky breath. Why was she almost crying? Barely a few days ago, she'd said she hated Georgie.
The older blonde pulled away and a man Vivie didn't recognize approached Georgie, whispering something to her.
"Okay, one will you give me one damn minute, Bucky?" Georgie somewhat snapped and the man walked away. Soon enough, Vivie was being led to another vehicle, separate from the other Flag Smashers, including Ella. Her mother walked alongside her, while Clementine kept her distance.
"Vivie, it's all gonna work out," Georgie said. "I promise. It's all gonna work out. You're gonna be home with me, and your sisters, and your cousin, it's all gonna be fine."
Vivie finally looked at Georgie. Clementine, Lilly, and a cousin? What was that supposed to mean?
"What?"
Georgie didn't have time to answer, as Vivie was loaded into an armored vehicle, all on her own.
