Imagine:
You and your friends are currently walking around Nashville, unsure of what you guys want to do. One of your friends suggests that you should ask Bailey, your childhood best friend, what you guys should do. (Pretend that he isn't crazy famous at this point and lives near Nashville). He suggested that you guys go to the Hard Rock and then head to Aldean's for his performance. You haven't seen him since a few years back when he was dating a girl, who was very jealous of how close you and Bailey were. You and him used to do everything together and always hang out all the time. His girlfriend at the time had Bailey pick between you and her. He chose her and you were crushed. He chose her over his childhood best friend, you were surprised to see her smirking at you and walking away with Bailey (oblivious to your heart literally falling out of your chest and onto the floor at your feet). He texted you when they broke up and you just gave him very short replies. You guys friend group used to call you guys by your ship name
(Y/f/i + ailey) and say that you guys looked so cute together. They would also tell you guys that you should date each other and try to let you guys have alone time during group hangouts. Once his then- girlfriend came into the picture, she didn't want him to even be in the same room as you.
You thank Bailey for his suggestion and told him that you and your friends would come to his gig at Aldean's. He gave you a quick "great, I'll see you then" text, before you told your friends the plan.
(Time skip to the performance/gig)
You guys get to Aldean's and see Bailey at the bar.
You walk over and he lights up upon seeing you.
He wraps you in a hug and once you break it, says "y/n, it's been too long since I've seen you, we have to catch up after my performance tonight."
You laugh and say "Definitely has been and only if your up for it after this performance, Bails."
His eyes light up when he hears you call him the nickname that you gave him long ago and he says "I've missed you so much and I've missed hearing you call me that. I gotta go and perform, I hope that you like it."
You walk back over to your friends, who were sitting at a table in the middle of the bar and you guys watch Bailey's performance. He dedicated your favorite song to you, before walking offstage and over to your table. His eyes are literally shining so bright at the sight of you standing up to hug him and tell him that he did so good, with his performance.
Your friends start teasing you guys and saying "look at that, our favorite power couple is back together again!" You both laugh and flip them off. Bailey tries to buy you guys a round of drinks, but you stop him before he gets the chance. You guys make small talk and he apologizes for picking his ex over you. You ask him why it took him this long to apologize for it and he says that he wasn't thinking clearly. He says that his ex was just trying to control him and wanted him all to herself. He got caught up in the whole thing and didn't realize that the right person for him was standing next to him for so long. He was talking about you and looking deep into your eyes.
He asks you if you want to hang like old times and make up for some lost time, whom you both are in town for a bit. You agree which causes your friends to cheer and applaud at your decision.
You smile and laugh at their reactions, as you feel a hand softly grab and hold yours from under the table. You turn and see Bailey staring at you with a bright smile on his face.
