Tyler POV

Zara and I packed a rental pickup truck for our weekend getaway. She was tight-lipped about where we were headed. She insisted on keeping it a surprise and promised that I'll love it. I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. It was our first initial solo trip. Even in our friendship, we never went anywhere for days without being with a group or a few others. This was a new ground.

Tyler: (chuckles) It feels weird as hell being in the passenger seat and watching you drive this big ass truck.

Zara: (laughs) I'm only driving because I know you. If I let you drive you're gonna peek to see where we're heading and I can't allow that.

Tyler: (fakes gasps) I would never!

Zara: (side eyes him) Yes the fuck you would.

Tyler: (laughs) I know. You want a snack? It's already been an hour since we ate.

Zara: Yes please. Pass me my chips please.

Tyler: (reaches in bag) You mean your abominations.

Zara: Aye! I know I knock you for what you eat but we're not gonna start on me too.

Tyler: Nigga. The fuck are spicy queso Funyuns?? Only you would find some weird ass shit like that.

I opened the bag for her then sat it on her lap. She took one hand off the wheel to go into the chip bag.

Zara: (grins) Thank you for opening my bag for me and also, fuck you. These chips good as fuck.

Tyler: How much longer do we have?

Zara: Fifty-nine minutes

Tyler: An hour?? You trying to kill me or some shit?

Zara: (sucks teeth) No dummy. But if you want me to leave you on the side of the road I will. I'm sure Vil would LOVE to come out to the middle of nowhere to get you.

Tyler: Aight. I'll stop asking questions. Now I know how you feel.

Zara: (smirks) The suspense is eating you alive isn't it?

Tyler: Yes! No more surprises after this. PLEASE!

Zara: (shrugs) Sorry but I can't promise that.

Tyler: Why not?

Zara: I know how I am. I'll get an amazing idea and turn it into a surprise instantly. I like shock value.

Tyler: (shakes his head) Can we turn on the radio or something? We've been driving in silence for way too long.

Zara: No we haven't. We've been talking the whole time.

Tyler: I still want to hear some music though for background noise.

I accessed the truck's dashboard settings and paired my phone with the bluetooth. Unable to decide on a playlist, I opted for shuffle instead. "How it's going down" by DMX was the first song to be played.

Zara: (laughs)The intro to this song is forever gonna be crazy to me.

Tyler: (laughs) Hell yeah. They were going crazy.

Zara: Please don't ever put me on a song from a voicemail.

Tyler: Nah. I'm not gonna do that. That's corny shit.
