Another Bombshell

Zara's POV

Jasper: So you niggas decided to elope and not tell anybody then proceeded to go on a honeymoon for a week and not let anyone know???

Tyler and I snickered as all of friends looked at us in disbelief. It had only been two days since we got back in town and we wanted to give everyone time to be able to come together. Alexis wasn't able to come so Nelle FaceTimed her.

Alexis: (glares into camera) I should whoop y'all asses when I come out there next time.

Samaria: Right because why were none of us invited? I'm actually quite offended.

Travis: (points to Tyler) And you, nigga! You said you were never gonna get married. So what the fuck?

Zara: Well to be fair, it was gonna happen regardless. It was planned the same day we announced the pregnancy to ya'll. We felt like that would be a lot to throw at y'all all at once.

Tyler: (shrugs) And we wanted to do something quick and private. What's wrong with that?

Lionel: There's nothing wrong with that. Still would've been nice to know.

Tyler: What would that have changed?

Zara: Not a thing, babe. We didn't want anything big. Just wanted to get it done.

Dashanelle: Why you say it like that?

Zara: (shrugs) That's just how it came out.

Tyler: What she means to say is, we made a decision that would be best for not only our kid but to keep her family off her back.

Ayo: What about them?

Zara: Before my parents passed, they always told the girls that they wanted for us to be married before we had kids. When we told my siblings, Lashawn asked us when the ring was coming so he's adamant on upholding my parents wishes.

Lionel: Wait, so you guys didn't do it because you wanted to but because you had to?

Tyler: Nah. We wanted to. We spoke about it and thought it would be best to do so and here we are. Plus, we're bound together for life anyways so why not?

Zara: Don't say it like that. It sounds so forced.

Tyler: But it's not though.

Travis: So what else y'all got to tell us? Anymore surprises?

Zara: (grins) Nope. That's it.

Jasper: This is a lot to take in.

Ayo: (sighs) So much change in one month. Congratulations though. Have you told your families yet?

Tyler: Nope. We're trying to figure out how to break it to them.

Zara: We know they're gonna be even more upset than y'all that we eloped and it wasn't a big grandiose shindig.

Alexis: So what. The goal was for y'all to be married before the baby. No one ever said how they wanted it to go. Y'all did what you felt was best for you and they can't do anything but respect it just like us.

Dashanelle: (waves hand) Preach Preacha!

Travis: Seriously tho, congrats on the marriage. It's nice to see y'all doing something other than fighting for once.

Zara: (stands up) Thank you. Now who's hungry?

Everyone's hand shot up making me laugh.
