Tyler's POV

Zara's pregnancy entering its second month brought me excitement for two specific reasons. Zara's body showed a slight change with a small pudge in her stomach where the baby was growing. Also, we're ready to let our friends in on the secret. Now that we have confirmed the baby's safe progress, we can let them know.

Today, Zara has her second visit with midwife Natasha. Patiently, we awaited her arrival. We might be able to hear the heartbeat today for the first time. I'm also stoked about that.

Zara: (looking at phone) So...we're at week 12. The little bean is the size of a plum.

Tyler: (chuckles) That's still small as fuck. Can fit in the palm of my hand literally.

Zara: (giggles) I know.

The doorbell rang and I temporarily got up and left the room to go let her in.

Tyler: Hey. How you doing, Ms. Natasha?

Natasha: I'm doing very well. Thank you for asking. How are you, Tyler?

Tyler: (grins) I'm doing really good. I can't complain.

Natasha: Zara's upstairs?

Tyler: Yeah. Follow me.

As we approached the bedroom, we found Zara lying in bed with her laptop on her lap. Once she saw us, she set it aside and smiled.

Zara: Hi, Ms. Natasha.

Natasha: Hey, sweetie. How are you feeling today? Or how have you been feeling in general?

Zara: (sighs) Oh my goodness...This baby has been tearing me up in the morning. I'm throwing up at least three times when I get up and then I'm nauseous and can't eat for the first two hours of the day.

Tyler: Yeah...it's been brutal to witness...

Natasha: You can try eating or drinking ginger, peppermint, or citrus. You can eat some hard candy, go for a walk and get some fresh air, just snack in the morning instead of a full on breakfast...Those are things you can try to tone it down. There's even bands you can wear on your wrist that can help.

Zara: Okay. I'll try ALL of those things because I just need some kind of relief.

Natasha: (grins) I understand. Anything else? How are you feeling emotionally?

Zara: Um I'm happy and scared. I've never been someone's mom before. It's gonna be new territory.

Natasha: That's perfectly fine. All first time moms are scared but once you have that baby, those instincts will kick in and you'll know or be sure of what to do like it's second nature. Have you been staying on top of taking your prenatals?

Tyler: I have been staying on top of her taking them. She's been too distracted with the condition of her ankle.

Natasha: (nods) Okay. As long as she's taking them every day. So I'm gonna test your sugar, take your blood pressure and get your weight, then we're gonna listen for your baby's heartbeat.

Zara's sugar levels were within the normal range, and she gained an extra two pounds since Natasha's last visit. Her blood pressure was within the appropriate range. Now was the exciting yet nerve-wracking part.

Natasha: I have a doppler with me and I'm gonna apply some gel on your stomach. It's gonna be cold just warning you but it's gonna help me to pick up the heartbeat.
